"Fantastic location, very comfortable room but, this time, a very disappointing dining experience."

4.0

The hotel is in a nice peaceful location and situated in a dramatic landscape. The room was clean, well presented and had good facilities. We enjoyed a nice drink in the bar prior to checking in with great views over the loch. It takes a bit of commitment to get to Kylesku but you're rewarded with a great setting for your stay or restaurant visit.

Having been to the restaurant at the Kylesku hotel several times before we had high hopes for the food and the service but were very disappointed by both. The staff were completely inattentive during dinner and we had to get their attention any time we wanted to order something - despite the restaurant not being especially busy. The same thing at breakfast; we noticed all of the other tables were receiving (and, in some cases, finishing) their breakfast while we waited for our order - it turned out to have not been placed with the kitchen. The food itself was, unfortunately, average at best - finding 7 fairly large bones in my fish was a bit of a shock in a restaurant well known for its seafood. We gracefully asked that this get fed back to the kitchen but it just didn't seem to receive the attention (or apology) that it should of. We were a bit disappointed that after the breakfast debacle no gesture was offered - when we checked out we had an outstanding £20 to pay for our dog staying with us - given that we'd spent more than £500 for dinner, bed and breakfast we thought this might have been waived. In all honesty we're not likely to return any time soon.

"Panoramic views of loch."

10.0

Beautifully situated hotel with almost panoramic views of loch. Attentive staff booking in for breakfast and also dinner upon arrival. Ate at the restaurant and had freshly prepared local seafood. Couldn’t recommend enough. There was also an honestly bar which I really liked - personal touch. A must stop on the NC500.

Due to the hotel’s beautiful lochside location, there were a significant number of midges, particularly in the evening. This made it difficult to fully enjoy the outdoor seating areas and views at times. Some midge repellent or information for guests on arrival would have been a helpful addition.

"A pleasant stop on the nc500"

8.0

A nice comfortable room in a lovely location. A warm welcome.

The driveway had many potholes. A short drive to the restaurant. The “shuttle service” was limited and inflexible and didn’t fit with our arrival or dinner reservation.

"Great hotel. Great service. Great Food. Stunning location. Highly recommended."

9.0

Great hotel. I've stayed here before, but this is the first time I've stayed in "Wullie's Hoose" which are the dog friendly rooms. The room was a great size and spotlessly clean. You certainly wouldn't think it was a room specifically reserved for dog owners. The hotel is under new management since the last time I stayed there and the new managers were both really friendly and welcoming. All of the staff were great. The food in the restaurant is also fantastic (especially the local seafood). I'd recommend it for a meal even if you're not staying in the hotel. The hotel is also in a stunning location with lots of outdoor activities on your doorstep.

My only (very minor) criticism would be the cost of the hotel. We paid £350 per night for a 2 night stay which I think is a little much. I'm led to believe though that in the advent of the NC500, hotel prices in the area have generally gone up significantly. All I would say, is don't expect all the normal trimmings you might expect with paying 5 star prices such as spa facilities, gym etc. The gym is the surrounding hills! :-)

"Beautiful location, friendly and competent staff. I would stay here again."

The restaurant was excellent. The staff was friendly and as accommodating as they could be.

I kept banging my head on the ceiling. I injured my leg and going up and down the stairs to use the bathroom was a chore.

"Amazing location!"

10.0

In a fabulous location right on the loch side with an outside deck for enjoying a drink from the bar and just taking in the view! Very comfortable room with great facilities, and so peaceful and quiet. We had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent and breakfast was equally as good. Would definitely recommend.

Nothing to dislike!

just about everything, outstanding view from our room, (10). great location, fish was cooked to perfection.

Breakfast service was a bit hectic, they didn't cook my partner's eggs as she asked for.

Was disappointed that we were in the house down the road. Was lovely but not the hotel.

As we were in the house down the road it was a pain checking in and we had to work around others getting a shuttle down to the main hotel for our evening meal.
