Ocean Mist Leith

An amazing find that I almost don’t want to write about so it doesn’t get so busy we can’t get back! A truly unique experience in fabulous surroundings. Exquisitely done bathrooms, luxurious bedrooms with lots of lovely wee touches. Charming staff and just one of my new favourite places. It is situated perfectly in the heart of Leith only a minutes walk away from the tram stop. Go and experience it for yourself, you won’t regret it.

An absolute joy to stay here, we will definitely return!! Very quirky and all staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The bar and bridge lounge are great for chilling with a drink and taking in the views. The breakfast in the morning was lovely with plenty of choice. All in all a very pleasant stay and one which I’ll be doing again soon.

This is a 10/10! Introduced to the Ocean Mist by YouTuber Steve Marsh and my interest was immediately piqued. Now, you have to admit a lot of folks will use the terms “quirky” or “novel” – which it may be – but it is a very very good hotel. Easily accessible from “The Shore” tram stop, so in and out of town is no problem. Fresh, well presented, immaculately clean. We had the Steering Flat at the stern behind the preserved steam engine! Bed was very comfortable. A/C worked, shower and toilet totally clean with the option of the steam engine as your toilet view! (With total privacy mind!) Loved the bar. The conversion from navy vessel to wee luxury hotel is so impressive. Staff were breath of fresh air too. Very enthusiastic, very helpful. Breakfast (continental) simple enough, but totally suited the place. (Enjoyed the coffee!) Finally, how could you not love a complimentary “fruit bowl” filled with Sir Boyd Tunnock’s finest!! We’ll be back with friends. Loved the place, loved the staff, loved the bar…just about everything!

Booked The Lounge for Christmas cocktails for our office group. Intended to start here and try other places, but we're so content that we stayed for three rounds. Cocktails were delicious, attentively served by Tommy. William was an excellent host, showing us round the boat. Would recommend!

Wonderful overnight stay at the Ocean Mist in Leith. Accommodation was very comfortable and buffet style breakfast was quite a variety of foods all fresh and filling. Location is perfect in the centre of Leith harbour with many restaurants nearby and access to busses and trams to the city centre.

What a fantastic stay! Clean, comfortable, attentive, friendly. There really is nothing even remotely negative to say about this lovely boutique hotel. From the moment you are welcomed onboard the staff make you feel special. The rooms are spotlessly cleaned everyday with perfect attention to detail. All staff make you feel relaxed from the first time you meet them. All are very attentive and make sure your stay is the best it can be. The bar area has a relaxed homely feel with a fantastic drinks menu and between the four of us managed to sample all the cocktails. Breakfast was relaxed and choice was good. The Dancing Captain will brighten the darkest of mornings. Ask one of the breakfast staff 😁. Four of us stayed for 3 nights to celebrate a birthday and we were not disappointed, so much so, we will be returning for another stay.

Fantastic boutique accommodation central to leith docks and 2 minutes from the tram stop into the city. Rooms were very clean and had all necessary items required for your stay, staff were very friendly and helpful, good continental breakfast in the morning although gets busy at certain times, a good choice available and plenty available. Overall can't fault it.

Return trip to Edinburgh and the Ocean Mist ! Amazing as it was before ! Staff the best, beautiful hotel, rooms well equipped, breakfast wonderful ! Great location ! Only 10 minutes on the tram from Princes Street ! Look forward to returning !

Stayed in Leith at the Port on a boat, the ‘Ocean mist’ in the ‘Sir Harry Newton’ room. What a warm and lovely welcome. Just the entrance with the large desk was just stunning and a bit of a WOW moment. Arrived earlier and our room was ready ‘Sir Harry Newton’ room. The room was much bigger than I had expected. A huge bed with luxury bedding. Every little detail was a feast for the eyes. So, I won’t share all of it, as not to spoil those wanting to stay on the Ocean Mist. The red carpet leading onto the boat, port hole windows were lovely. Lovely tub chairs to sit in. Tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was huge, with a double shower and shower gel, hand soap available to use. Everything was cleaned to a very high standard and just a wonderful experience. The ‘Castle View Bar’ was a wonderful experience. The attention to detail in the whole room was wonderful. Looking out through the windows was just so relaxing. Comfy leather chairs and couches. We really could have sat their all day and night. The day and nighttime experience was different but still fantastic. Great cocktails. Continental Breakfast was served in here also, plenty of choice and one of the best pots of tea I have had. The ‘Bridge Lounge’ allows another area to sit in and just enjoy the atmosphere. Great location to wonder around Leith, which is a slower pace to central Edinburgh. There are seated areas outside, and I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to just sit outside in warmer weather and the longer days of Spring and Summer. There are two tram stations just a 5-minute walk to the Ocean Mist, that takes you to central Edinburgh running every 7 minutes Monday to Saturday. On a Sunday every 15 minutes. The tram also takes you to Edinburgh airport. We will be back it was wonderful!

We loved our stay on the Ocean Mist. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful, and we enjoyed a fantastic night's sleep in the (massive!) comfy bed. The cocktails in the bar were excellent and there was a lovely intimate atmosphere on board. The restoration of the ship has been done to a phenomenal standard and it makes for a memorable experience. Breakfast was also great and once again the staff went above and beyond to ensure that everyone got their day off to a good start. We would love to return and stay on board again.
