"Serendipity and Serenity Are Where You Find Them"

10.0

Prior to our four day, whirlwind, Birthday/Anniversary trip to Arkansas and back, I was using Google Maps in an attempt to scope out a place to stay for one night that was within easy driving distance of our primary goal, P. Allen Smith's Moss Mountain Farm. Mostly I was looking for some lodgings in Morrilton or Conway. At some point during the search I noticed Petit Jean State Park, The Museum of Automobiles (???) and then . . . The Cedar Falls Motel. I was intrigued. I ran the concept by my wife and she said, "Book it, Dann-o." Suffice it to say that this place turned out to be exactly as I hoped it would be and more. It's location is perfect. It's set peacefully back off the road and only a short drive from the charming State Park and Mather Lodge, home of an excellent restaurant. If you are coming in from the east, do not miss the Stout's Point Overlook. It is breathtakingly beautiful. The caretaker/custodian of the property does a great job of keeping this bit of history in top shape and the person with whom I made the reservation was very accomodating. We had to change our original reservation to a different day. I was told that we would have to settle for a different room with a smaller bed. Yet, when we actually checked in, we got the one originally agreed upon. If you are looking for something fancy, this might not be the place for you. If you enjoy the experience of spending some time in a place where time has stood still, definitely check out the Cedar Falls Motel/Lodge. You will not be disappointed. I would have enjoyed spending more than one night here, and maybe cooking something outdoors, but we had other places to go. Thank goodness for the zoom feature on Google Maps.

"Fine for the price"

6.0

Very cute setting against the forest. Met my expectations - just a basic motel room. Can't beat it for the price, and very convenient to the park, so other than the lodge/cabins in the park (which were full), it's the only option, in my opinion. I would not want to drive from Russellville every day.

"Birthday trip"

10.0

This motel is absolutely amazing. We started our vacation a day early and had to find somewhere to stay, thanks to Google we found this. Our supposedly one night stay turned into 3 nights, we cancelled our reservation at the other hotel to stay here. Jessica, the housekeeper is super friendly and makes sure you've got everything and anything you need and is very informal about things to do around the area. Mr. Ernie is a complete sweetheart and fit us into what was a packed weekend because we didn't want to leave. The fire place is perfect for a night next to the fire to enjoy a couple cold ones or to just enjoy the beautiful scenery. If you wake up early enough the entire lot is filled with deer. It is absolutely beautiful. We will definitely be back to stay again. Thank you Jessica for a great stay and a great start to our vacation. We will see you again soon!

"Nothing fancy but did the trick"

10.0

We almost did not stay here after reading some of the other reviews. I am so glad we decided to give them a try. It isn't anything fancy but I'm here for the hiking and the fresh air, not the amenities a nice hotel can offer me. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean and the prices are very reasonable. I would absolutely stay here again and again.

"Basic, small room, old motel, but SO convenient"

8.0

For the price, definitely worth it. And, other than the Petit Jean lodge and cabins (which probably have to be booked WAY in advance), it's the only place convenient to the park, so for that reason alone, I would stay there again, for sure.

Preparing the trip was a joy working with Ernie, and his attention to detail was outstanding , as was the manager Shirley making sure our weekend was perfect. I would highly advise anyone traveling her to consider this as your place to stay. Great for couples and families!!!!

"Clean, budget friendly, place to sleep/shower"

8.0

Very budget friendly place to stay while exploring Petit Jean. Please don't come here and complain because it's not comparable to other hotels. This is a place to shower and sleep between hikes, bikes, and playing all day at Petit Jean. Very friendly mom and pop staff. Centrally located on the mountain. Gets the job done for your stay at one of AR best state parks. Aged and could use some updating, but who cares when you're in the outdoors.

"Spring break getaway "

8.0

We had a wonderful time. Shirley and Ernie are still here and took great care of us. We stayed here about 20 years ago and I wasn't sure what to expect on this visit, but i was very happy! It was much nicer than our previous stay . The rooms have been renovated with hardwood floors and other nice features. We had a queen size bed, cable, and Internet if we wanted...new ac units and microwave, small fridge, and coffeemaker. Our room was smaller but cozy and cute. We will be back. Thank you, Shirley and Ernie for your kindness! By the way, this was located 2 minutes from Petit Jean State Park and was so convenient. We walked mountain trails and ate at Mather Lodge. Everything was so accessible from this hotel.

"Won't return "

2.0

My family and I have been so pleased to return to the Cedar falls Lodge / Motel this past year since Shirley had taken over as the new Manager. She and her brother have always been so kind and Very attentive to our needs whenever we come up which since they took over had been at least every couple of months. We live in Louisiana and love to get away and had came to Cedar falls motel in thebpast but due to the poor conditions a few years aho we all stopped coming, then as we rode our bikes up North we went across the Mountain and saw Under new Management and checked it out. We had a blast to say the least and have been back with friends on numerous occassions. We recently visited and sadly enough Miss Shirley had left as Manager and her brother as well. The New couple appeared to be very young and inexperienced in this field along with an older gentleman on the property. The carpet in our favorite rooms were stained and the rooms themselves were musty smelling. Dead bugs in the windows etc. We were not happy this past stay therefore we will not be returning again. So much for our getaway place. Check it out if you'd like. Great quiet place with good rates but cleanliness always rates #1 with me.
