Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets - Adults Only - All Inclusive

DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT! Review of Impression Isla Mujeres By Secrets I am writing this review as a BEWARE to anyone booking this resort! DO NOT SPEND THE $!!! This was intended to be a luxury vacation to celebrate my husband & my 25 year wedding anniversary, yet it became one of the most uncomfortable and upsetting travel experiences we have ever had. Our stay cost approximately $12,000, and the level of safety, maintenance, and medical response we experienced was completely unacceptable for a property marketed as a high-end Hyatt resort. We are UVC members and appalled by our experience at your highest regarded resort. On our second day at the resort, while preparing for a snorkeling excursion, I was instructed to remove my sandals and walk to the edge of the pier barefoot. The dock was in extremely poor condition, and I immediately suffered a very large splinter in my foot from the deteriorated wood. The injury caused significant pain for the remainder of our trip. I struggled to walk, barely slept due to the discomfort, and was unable to properly enjoy the vacation we had spent a substantial amount of money to take. What was even more disturbing was the response from the resort staff afterward. After returning from snorkeling, I sought medical attention from the individual presented to us as an EMT. The “treatment” I received was alarming and inappropriate. My foot was cleaned with hand sanitizer, and he then attempted to use an opened manicure kit containing toenail clippers to cut into my skin. He also asked if he could use a sewing needle that was not sanitized in an attempt to remove the splinter. At no point did this feel medically safe or professional. Despite my continued pain and obvious symptoms, I was repeatedly told there was no splinter in my foot. Twice during our stay we requested baking soda after learning it could help draw the splinter to the surface, yet those requests were ignored and never fulfilled. We also asked about having a doctor evaluate the injury and were told that one could come to the resort, but only at our own expense. Ultimately, the pain and inability to walk comfortably forced us to leave the resort a day early and return home.I was unable to join in activities throughout our stay & was repeatedly told there was nothing in my foot!!!! After seeking medical attention back home a very significant splinter was removed from my foot myself. The area had already become infected. I am appalled that: A luxury resort would allow guests to walk barefoot on a dangerously deteriorated dock A guest injury caused by unsafe property conditions was handled so carelessly The medical response appeared unsanitary and wholly unprofessional Basic guest care and follow-up were virtually nonexistent despite the seriousness of the situation Our vacation was effectively ruined due to an entirely preventable injury This experience fell far below the standards I would expect from Hyatt and from a resort in this price category. I would appreciate a formal review of this incident, including the condition of the dock and the qualifications and medical protocols of the individual providing treatment onsite. I have written letters to UVC, Hyatt corporation as well as the general manager of Impressions Isla Mujeres to be simply told that they followed ALL protocol & are proud of their response team!! They literally tried to use a dirty, used pair of toe nail clippers to remove a very deep splinter from my foot. They told me countless times during our stay that nothing was in my foot & all they could offer was to walk us to the pharmacy off premises in order to ask for a prescription for the infection that was clearly spreading on my foot!! The view and the location are incredible! The hotel hitself is beautiful and great. The staff and the service in some of the places at hotel was a bit slow. We really enjoyed ! I do recommend

We arrived as a couple for 3 nights. A perfect hotel—the food is excellent, with a wide variety and outstanding restaurants. I would like to sincerely thank our personal assistants, Erick and Edgar, who provided us with exceptional service and an outstanding experience.

We did very happy experience in hotel. Everybody was kind especially Eric and Edgar. They help us alot to have fun. We would like to visit again

First off, I want to thank Erick and Edgar our butlers for outstanding service. We have been to around 20 all-inclusive resorts and here are the main takeaways: 1) best view by far 2) Secrets never disappoint with quality of the food and service. 3) I like that Secrets give the option of not just Mexican beer but also have Amstel Ultra 4) Very quiet and peaceful resort, not overcrowded or hard to find seating at the pools 5)Teppanyaki table was our favorite with Spezia a close second 6)golf carts are a must to see the Island, stopped everywhere we wanted in about 6 hours Only thing I would change is a Buffet breakfast, we prefer to sample different foods at breakfast instead of ordering off a menu.
