The Castle Hotel

I liked the fact I could take my dog. I opted for the free continental breakfast. Which was very good. You could serve yourself. And basically eat as much as you needed.

I get why when I booked. The site said, just one room left on this site. It was the one directly above the bar. So you can hear everyone talking. You didn't have to go down to the live entertainment. You could hear it all in the bedroom. And it sounded good to be honest. But goes on until 11.30, so bare in mind if you have to be up early for a train, or a hike. I'm not saying that the rest of the hotel is bad. We just drew the short straw this time. Also, there's no double glazing, and you are overlooking a very busy road. You wouldn't think the A1 existed. As it seems every single vehicle going to and from Scotland. Passes straight through Berwick upon Tweed. And I mean 24/7. There's NO quiet period. Room 9 it was. Avoid, if you want a good night's sleep. We had to come home for a rest.

If you like a hotel with history, character and a splendid location this place is for you. Right beside the train station, easy car parking, on main bus route and at one the end of the main street within walking distance of all of Berwick's attractions and riverside walks. I particularly liked the open fire in the busy bar with it's friendly atmosphere on a cold March night.

I found nothing to dislike.
