Canoe Place Inn & Cottages

We were really pleased by how lovely the rooms, property and staff were. The pool could have been warmer and we did not really like the food, but the drinks were great and it was otherwise a really great stay. We will definitely plan to visit again if we find ourselves heading out to the Hamptons area.

I rarely leave bad reviews, but this hotel deserves it. I called well in advance to cancel my reservation, thinking I was being courteous and giving them time to fill the spot. Despite this, they still charged my card—without my consent. I followed every step they asked and was assured there’d be no fee. Turns out, that meant nothing. When I called to dispute the charge, the staff gave me the runaround and acted like it was somehow my fault. No accountability. No refund. Just a blatant scam hiding behind fine print and fake politeness. Be warned: this place does not honor their word, and they clearly have no problem taking your money even when you play by their rules.

My recent stay at Canoe Place Inn & Cottages in Hampton Bays was nothing short of spectacular, earning it a well-deserved five stars. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, blending modern elegance with cozy, Hamptons-inspired touches. Thoughtful amenities like in-room phone chargers, plush bedding, and spacious layouts made our stay feel indulgent yet comfortable. The attention to detail was evident, with little luxuries like complimentary beach chairs and towels that elevated the experience. The property itself is stunning, with meticulously maintained grounds that invite relaxation. The pool area was a highlight—pristine, inviting, and perfect for lounging under the sun. The on-site spa was equally impressive, offering a serene escape with top-notch treatments that left us rejuvenated. Dining at Canoe Place was a delight. The food at Good Ground Tavern was delicious, with fresh, locally-inspired dishes that catered to a variety of tastes. The breakfast spread, in particular, was a standout, featuring everything from fluffy pastries to hearty options. The staff truly made this stay exceptional. Their warmth, professionalism, and willingness to accommodate every request—from arranging a convenient shuttle into town to ensuring our comfort—made us feel like VIPs. The shuttle service was a fantastic touch, making it easy to explore nearby shops and beaches without the hassle of parking. Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway, a relaxing retreat, or a luxurious base for exploring the Hamptons, Canoe Place delivers on every front. Truly one of the most wonderful places I have ever stayed! The room was immaculate and spotless, it even smelled fresh and clean. The bed and pillows were so comfy and I loved the relaxing pillow spray gift. The whole property and the room are so gorgeous, I can’t wait to come back over and over again!

What a beautiful and welcoming resort. We stayed 2 nights in a king room. The room had great, modern features and was extremely quiet which was the best for getting a good night of sleep. Enjoyed the pool! Did not get a chance to enjoy the restaurant or bikes, but, hope to stay here again and include these in my next trip. Just a note that, the bed was on the softer side (in our room) depending on your bed preference.

My second stay here. Lovely boutique type hotel. Rooms are very clean, with a warm/luxury beach vibe decor. Bed was very comfortable. Restaurant was very good as well. Front desk staff friendly and accommodating. Check in easy. We arrived late and they must have been expecting us as they greeted us by name. Very expensive given it’s in Hampton Bays and not in West ie South Hampton, but it is about 15 mins to either Westhampton or South Hampton so easy enough to enjoy both towns from there. And Hampton Bays itself isn’t a bad area, just doesn’t have a town to walk around in like the others. Would stay again.

Upscale hotel, ideally located for exploring the Hamptons. Lovely boathouse with all the mod cons you would require. Accommodation is modern and clean and the staff are professional and polite. Interior design of the boathouse is very "Hamptons" and every thought has been put into design and ergonomics. Beds are comfy and huge.

Beautiful hotel! Everything is perfect so bar. The concierge was so friendly, helpful, and polite.

From before we arrived, we received a text expressing like excitement on welcoming us. From the check in to check out it was exceptional. The staff, each one of them were excellent. The room, the details, the cleanliness was Exceptional. Absolutely love it. Already looking into booking our next stay.
