Canoe Place Inn & Cottages

Exceptional property, great staff, excellent dining experience

This is a special hotel. Had room on 3rd floor with king bed and nooks. Very special and large. Photos don’t do it justice.

The sweetest cottage ever. All the amenities you could imagine. A full kitchen, a beautiful bathroom with a huge shower. The bedroom was lovely and the bed was beyond comfortable. My favorite space was the outdoor porch. It was secluded and surrounded with beautiful landscaping. There was a picnic table and a fire pit that I didn’t use, maybe next time. I was happy enough in that serene space looking out at the huge statute of the deer. Ahhhh…

New renovation well-done throughout with lots of nice touches. Owners personal art collection lines the walls of the public areas and rooms. Food and service were excellent on-site. Great gym and outdoor pool area. Easy drive to North Fork and South Fork towns. On-site breakfast is good and we always look for this since it's becoming increasingly rare. A la carte it can be a bit pricey so check if you can get it as part of the room rate. Terraces are quite large and very attractively furnished but--just to manage expectations--for the most part they overlook a small patch of landscaped gardens and mostly the nearby highway. Still a top recommendation in this expensive locale--we didn't see anywhere else we would have rather stayed!

We hosted a 60th birthday celebration for eight guests at Canoe Place Inn and Cottages in September. The entire staff, food and beverage team, presentation of cottages, along with the overall hospitality of everyone on their team far exceeded five stars! We reserved two cottages for three days to accommodate our group who had traveled from Denver, Dallas, Kansas City, Manhattan and more to be at this celebration. Molly Fargo ( Director of Operations) was the absolute best representation of Canoe Place Inn. Molly delivers hospitality and top notch service beyond any other high end destination we have traveled. Molly provided recommendations on many details to curate the most spectacular experience. She was exceptionally efficient and on top of every single request we presented. Our reservations for excursions, drivers, and dinner were handled with amazing precision. The cottages were pristine and enjoyed by all. We had a private dinner in the Canoe Place Library which was exceptional. We requested a private cocktail hour with light hors d'oeuvres at one of the cottages prior to an off site dinner reservation. It was executed to perfection. Thank you Mark and Jake. We enjoyed a morning of spa services. Jane went above and beyond to accommodate our schedule. The service providers at Sommetbeauty were outstanding. Truly, thank you to each and every person who makes Canoe Place Inn a remarkable destination. A side note, Canoe Place Inn and Cottages was also hosting an on-site wedding the weekend we were there. Not one time did we ever feel like our group was a secondary event. We were treated with the utmost care and importance. I We will definitely plan further events at Canoe Place Inn and Cottages.

Beautifully appointed resort with a very casual elegant feel. Staff were extremely helpful in an unintrusive way. Pool and restaurant were convenient and food appropriate for the summer.

My husband and I had lunch in their outdoor Cafe and Bar twice. We found the menu somewhat limited but the food was good. The Bloody Mary was excellent. The service was dreadful though. The first and second time we went. You’d think a very special place like this would address this problem! Also did not like the decor but that’s just my opinion!

What a beautiful property! Attention to detail rules the day here. The staff right from check in takes the time to make you feel special. We received a tour of the property from our desk agent before being brought to our room. The history of this place was kept front and center in this very lovingly restored inn. The room itself was spectacular. All rooms are quite unique. Bathroom had a heated floor, there were Frette slippers for guests as well as Nespresso machines and water. The bed was SO comfy. We experienced the restaurant, bar and pool area. All top notch. Parking is easy and plentiful. For us it was a great spot to venture out from. Its location is a bit odd and unremarkable but that’s part of its history. We will definitely be back next year!

This historic inn has been meticulously renovated and updated to maintain its 17th-century charm while providing modern comforts. We have stayed at many places in the Hamptons, and this inn ranks among the best. We have experienced both the suites and the cottages, and all are impeccably appointed. The rooms, service, and dining were some of the finest we have ever encountered. Be sure to try the Good Ground Tavern Restaurant attached to the inn. The hotel is staffed with remarkably friendly and helpful people. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the valet, who attended to our every need. Molly, the general manager, was attentive and ensured everything was perfect for my family and me. We look forward to returning.

Amazing staff and a very nice terrace room. Better to be in the back away from highway. Nice bfast and restaurant options nearby. Extra bonus - they have parking passes for the beach allow the dunes. All-in-all a nice experience. Will return.
