Stunning Shepherd's Hut Retreat North Devon

Was bit tricky by public transport.

The hut was lovely, very well laid out and had everything we needed.

Beautiful little hut in the middle of no where...absolutely perfect.

De plek was mooi, midden op het platteland en je kijkt uit op de schapen.

Het afwerkingsniveau van de hut was slordig. De buitendeur was gammel, de tegeltjes van het keukenblokje kwamen los van de muur, het bed was veel te hoog zonder enige opstaande rand. De wcbril schoof alle kanten op en de douche was ronduit smerig. De rest was ook niet echt schoon. Spinnenwebben bij de douche en achter de wc, oude broodkruimels op het koelkastje waarop een koffiezetapparaatje stond weggeduwd. Ik denk dat t bed schoon was maar niet fris, net zo min als de handdoeken. Kortom het idee van de hut op zich is leuk maar zorg dan wel dat t goed gedaan wordt. Dit was voor ons geen prettige ervaring. Op de foto's lijkt t prima maar de werkelijkheid is echt anders.

Stunning views. Very cute interior.

Due to weather whole place wobbled in the wind and rain. Didn’t feel sturdy. Shower was full of cobwebs and was very dark. As it was rainy we had to park in the field which we later questioned and got told to park somewhere else - which was also wrong as someone knocked on the door at 9:30 saying we need to move the car - very annoying as check out was at 10:00 so we were leaving soon anyway. Was very cold and wind came in from sections of the wall - the two blankets provided were thin and no directions on fire use. No sugar or alternative milks for tea / coffee.

Little touches missing. Ie. Soap and washing up liquid very low Saucepans going rusty Lovely log burner but low on firefighters and kindling although good on logs

Location, lovely views, accommodation was comfortable and had everything I needed.

Road to farm was difficult to navigate in a normal car, with many potholes and much of it washed out and though parking was available in field next to shepherd's hut, when wet it's not suitable. I was not advised of this. I was unable to raise help when I got stuck. Though I managed to get myself out using some old boards I found. I found the hand-wash supplied was about to run out with no way of replenishing it. It was just enough to get me through the nights stay. The access to the bed which was very comfortable was probably best described as for more agile people. I did enjoy my stay overall and if someone was aware of the following I would have no hesitation in recommending it highly as a peaceful getaway in a beautiful location.
