Mountainside Inn

Wasn’t sure how the Mountainside Inn would be, but was pleasantly surprised. Our room was the smallest but very comfortable. The bed is soft , which we liked. There was an actual coffee pot with ground coffee No one was on site but we got a text with instructions and worked very well. Nice roomy lounge area and full common kitchen if you have multiple people staying would be very convenient. You can park very close to entrance—side or front —which makes it easy to unload. We would atay there again when we return to Ft Davis.

We arrived at the property at 4:10. Knocked on door that said office, no answer. Called number on our email reservation confirmation. Got a person who explained that this was an old number and inn would not update their website or 3rd party websites despite repeated pleas. No excuse for that. We finally spoke to a person who gave us the entrance code and then found our room. The room was small but cute. The shared kitchen was horrible— dirty dishes everywhere left by earlier guests and overflowing garbage cans. We could not get the tv (dish) in room to work at all and didn’t want to watch it in common area. The owners need to contact their contact info with all internet sites and booking sites. No excuse for not having done this when management changed in October.

Despite the lack of hot water due to circumstances beyond the control of the host a more than generous refund means that my review ignores this. We were in the Hideaway (I think that was its name) around the back. It has a nice interior with an old west theme, was very clean and had a comfortable bed with quality bedding. The bathroom had a good range of toiletries. There were some places to sit outside with a nice view of the mountain (very colourful at sunset). If you go into town take a flashlight as it is really dark on the way back so a great place for star gazing. At the time of our visit the micropub on the main street, same owners, had a discount for guests. Its a fun place with a great range of beers. If we are in Fort Davis again we would be happy to stay here again.

Very comfortable and cozy place to stay. Great view from the windows. Very clean, beautiful and tasty decor. The place provides comfort of the home while on vacation. There is a kitchen access as well as a common living room and a sun patio. Convenient location.

A return trip is in our future and we will definitely be coming back.

Nice little inn access to the full kitchen. The trees were scraping the roof in the wind. That was kind of loud. I'll come back. I liked it

I'm not sure if something has happened here recently regarding management but there was absolutely no presence during our stay. The front door key code was low on battery so we couldn't self check in (luckily the cleaner was onsite), and while the room was clean and comfortable, it wasn't quite what we were expecting - it felt more like a shared Airbnb than an Inn! We found the communal kitchen somewhat confusing as there was food lying about that didn't seem to belong to any of the other guests but wasn't sure if we could help ourselves. Ft Davis is quaint but felt somewhat neglected off season.

Overall a nice place to stay however the parking lot was very rough and unpaved and could be dangerous for someone who is older or handicapped. They text at 7:00 a.m. containing instructions on checking out was a little too early. Otherwise it was a nice day and the community kitchen and dining area didn't present a problem.

This was our first visit to Ft. Davis. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mountainside Inn. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the beds were very good. The inn is in a great location to access the national park as well as the downtown area. We will stay there again.
