False advertising thru the website. Website said free boat shuttle to town when I got there it’s $15 per person with super limited schedule. I called on the phone to ask the price for a cab into town I was told $35 when I got to the resort it was $200 round trip us money. The amount of sargassum created plague of vicious mosquitoes, and flies that did not allow for the enjoyment of the outdoors. The orange OFF repellent barely worked. If you got in the pool the minute your face touched the surface your face was attacked. My poor daughter had 8 bites on her face. In one hour of pool time. There is only one restaurant with so so food. Management did nothing to acknowledge our distress nor any form of solution offered to make our stay enjoyable. You are stuck, stranded nothing to do and afraid to go out side because you will be assaulted by the biting insects and horrible, disgusting smell that was so strong I had a hard time falling asleep. It was sheared torture.

"A beautiful place"

8.0

The staff at the front desk were great

The mosquitos were awful. A week later and I am still itching. You also could not swim in the beach because of all the sargassum. Margaritaville had it worse than any beach around. The smell was awful. One of the pools needed to be cleaned from the lizards pooping everywhere.

The resort and staff are lovely, and the setting is beautiful, but it’s extremely remote—over an hour to town or Secret Beach, with no paved roads and relentless mosquitos. A few improvements would go a long way: provide insect repellent kits, improve mosquito control around the property, and offer more vegan food options. A regular shuttle schedule exclusively for guests (not shared with staff or supply runs) would greatly enhance the experience. TVs should be fully functional, and a gift shop or small grocery store would be helpful due to the isolation. More on-site activities and better access to golf carts or ATVs would also improve the stay. Despite these challenges, we made it an adventure—but it's best for travelers who enjoy rustic, remote settings

"DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!"

2.0

I read reviews before booking and thought, ooh, that person is probably overreacting. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! The smell is absolutely terrible and ruins the entire experience. You may see 2 people make in the pool because no one wants to be out there with that smell. Beautiful property and comfortable rooms. Do not like that there are no channels to watch. You can stream however most apps will not allow access because of being out of the U.S. They bill you in US dollars which is not common there. All of the places we visited billed us in their money. Realized when I arrived back home that I paid $44 USD for a plate of food. Berry and Captain Leon/Harry were amazing making you feel welcomed.

"Graduation and Birthday Celebration"

2.0

Still here as we made the mistake of paying in full. What we expected was what their website and concierge promised what we were given is something completely different. DO NOT waste your money! Go to any other Margaritaville Resort. After this our favorite by far is in the Bahamas. Wish we were there as this is the worst experience by far and sadly keeps getting worse instead of better. I was sent this on May 24th one month after paying in full and one week before our arrival … Please note: From March through September, sargassum—a natural seaweed—may occasionally wash ashore. While this is a seasonal occurrence throughout the Caribbean, our dedicated team works diligently each day to maintain a clean and enjoyable beach experience for our guests … but what we got was a none usable beach with a an AWFUL smell that stays on you and in your nasal passages and that cannot be describe in words (pictures of the “clean and enjoyable beach” attached). The room is wonderful, activities director a delight, the restaurant staff, Josue the bartender, our drivers/skippers and room attendants extremely accommodating but that unfortunately cannot make up for the canceled excursion, food quality, fact they run out of things daily, lack of beach access, ambience, activities (there are none!) complete lack of follow through, inability to go anywhere as their cost of transportation isn’t affordable and the AWFUL smell!!! The worst part of it all is the fact I spent numerous hours emailing with the resort as this was our daughters high school graduation trip and my husband’s 60 birthday celebration. I cannot put into words how disappointed we are, how unvalidated we feel (talked to the Assistant GM numerous times while here on property) and overall how awful our experience has been so far.

"Belizean Paradise Home Away From Home"

10.0

We LOVE this place. From the moment you arrive, the sweetest Margaritaville guys are there to greet you with sincere happiness and will make sure you get to the boat that takes you up to the resort. The boat ride is fun and beautiful. When you arrive to the Margaritaville dock you are greeted by more happy faces and a very welcoming vibe. The rooms are perfectly clean. The patios are spacious, all with big comfy Adirondack chairs. We were excited to see the rooms have been upgraded since our last stay with better coffee makers - Nespresso! The restaurant/bars are all wonderful - we would rate every food/drink five star. Having your own quiet peaceful beach is amazing. There is great snorkeling right off the dock and at the neighboring restaurant - Tranquility Bay! If you scuba dive, the resort partners with White Sands Dive Shop and diving is made easy - we loved it all.

"Beautiful and unique"

10.0

The resort is beautiful, impeccably maintained, and the staff is wonderful. There are two large swimming pools, one with a swim- up bar and the other more secluded in the back. The location is unique, next to a natural preserve and a turtle nesting area. We will return soon!
