Kona Village A Rosewood Resort

Our stay at Kona Village was amazing. The separate rooms, called hales, are beautiful and the staff is a stand-out -- from those in the restaurants, housekeeping, beach services, guest services, to the adult pool (we never went to the children's pool -- the complimentary popsicles were great) and general management. There were always complementary cabanas or lounge chairs with umbrellas available. We loved the idea of having the same book in each guest room. That was a lot of fun and conversation starter. A big reason we went was for the snorkeling -- there were tons of fish and some turtles, likely due to the fact that the area around the hotel is protected from fishing at the moment. The beach services folks were also great -- they knew the area well and were helpful with both novice and advanced snorkelers. We also noticed that the resort empowered its employees so when we had a request, the response was always positive. What a concept! The place isn't inexpensive, but at KV you get what you pay for, unlike most high-end resorts. Kona Village was worth every penny. We can't wait to return.

We came to Kona Village for our honeymoon and are so incredibly glad that we did! The level of service and hospitality was truly exceptional. Throughout our stay, the team found thoughtful ways to make us feel seen and cared for. Our hale was absolutely beautiful, and the housekeeping staff made sure we didn’t have to lift a finger. We especially loved attending the Island Roots dinner — it was such a sweet evening where we met staff and fellow guests, creating a sense of community that made the resort feel even more special. The beachside service was a great touch, though at times the speed could be a bit slow — not a major issue, just something to consider. We really enjoyed the complimentary water activities like snorkeling and canoeing, which made it easy to stay on the property while still having plenty to explore. The gym, pickleball courts, and spa amenities were excellent and gave us opportunities to stay active and unwind. Overall, the attention to detail in every aspect of the resort was phenomenal — from the sunscreen at the pool and beach, to the complimentary fruits and waters, to the postcards and ways the resort honors Hawaiian history. Every element added to the experience in such a thoughtful way. We will definitely be back!

The room was clean, beautifully designed, and very stylish. The staff were friendly, and the service was excellent. From the moment we passed through the gate, the hotel gave us a sense of excitement. There were plenty of activities to enjoy. In addition to marine sports, the kids were thrilled to be able to play soccer as well. If I had to point out anything, the bicycles were a bit difficult to ride, but even that became part of the fun because everything else was so fantastic. If you’re staying in Kona, I think this is the best hotel you can choose.

The great: Rosewood Kona Village is nestled along a beautiful strip of the Kohala coast. We had just one off campus activity planned for our 4-day, 3-night which meant our biggest decision most days was whether to relax by the beautiful turquoise water of the spacious black sand beach or lounge by the well-designed adults pool. Both had plentiful seating options, meaning we showed up and always snagged the perfect spot for the day. Beach and pool service got a 4/5 from me as the food options were delicious and plentiful. Sometimes it was hard to get a service at the beach, but upper managers were always around to keep the clientele happy. The beautiful adults pool is perfect for your hourly dip or hot tub while enjoying the calming sounds of the ocean. What stood out by far to my as an avid ocean lover was the house reef. Hour-long snorkel sessions, sometimes twice a day, were a daily part of my routine. The resort has a pristine house reef and cruising around in the lovely warm waters looking at the underwater residents was just heaven. In my snorkel sessions just north of the beach I was able to see turtles, lobster, eel, octopus, as well as a cornucopia of beautiful tropical fish. In good conditions there are tons of little coves, many with swim through lava arches to enjoy. Visibility was in the 50-100 foot range most times, especially early morning, though on the last day strong surge diminished the experience someone. Having snorkeled all over the world, including the Maldives, this is one of the best you will find. We did a scuba trip one day and honestly I enjoyed snorkeling the reef more than the dive site they took use to. You really feel like you are a part of the underwater world The good and the needs work: We loved the meals and snacks offered on the pool/beach menu. Everything was delicious though some portions were a little small. Standouts were the Maui onion rings and the Asian noodle slaw bowl Drinks were the biggest complaint. For a $25 cocktail I feel like you should get something stronger most drinks. All the drinks we ordered through the resort seemed somewhat weak and uninspiring. Our treetop hale gets 5/5 stars, they really thought of everything a guest could want in their luxury hales. We stayed in a tree top hale, which gave you a decent ocean and Mountain View while being a short walk from the adults pool, beach, and Moana. We didn’t have to use the provided bikes or buggy service at all. Other reviews had mentioned complaints about the bed. We found ours heavenly to sink into at the end of a day. One small concern was privacy, as the main road for the resort golf cars ran right in front of the hole. Our hale, 112 got the worst of it being on the end of the row. I would recommend hales 113-115 for more privacy. Next time I’d love to try out the oceanfront rooms for a bit more secluded experience The twice-daily Room service, though impecand, could have been timed better with us being out of the room Breakfast service at Moana was included in our rate and was mostly buffet style, lots of good quality options to load up for the day. Our one experience at Moana for dinner was decent. Service staff could perhaps use a little more polish. We went over to the 4s for dinner one night and were impressed by the sushi restaurant there. Overall the quality of the hales, the ocean activities, and general friendliness of the staff will earn a return visit. We met GM Daniel and his plans for continuing to improve the quality of the operation will only get better!

Food was not great…. Every restaurant has the same menu…. Food wasn’t worth the trip or the price…. But the staff and surroundings were fab…. Went to the Canoe House for great food ( Mauna Lani)

Property, rooms, spa, concierge were amazing the food and beverage needs improvement

My wife and I recently were able to escape the Windy City of Chicago and travel to the big island for six days of much-needed rest. We’ve recently been traveling in Europe quite a bit, and found ourselves at Rosewood Vienna and also Rosewood, London. Both properties providing very good, positive experiences. So we decided to give the relatively new Rosewood Kona a try, and we’re glad we did. In Short, the property was fantastic, very comfortable rooms, terrific food in the restaurants and truly responsive, professional, and over-the-top service by a staff devoted to our needs. I hesitantly give this property our highest rating and can’t wait to go

We visited this lovely resort for six nights celebrating our 21st anniversary. There was a bump in our initial blames but the manager and the entire team made extraordinary efforts to make it a beautiful life memory . We are so thankful . In addition, my wife developed a back problem which laid her out. Our flight home was scheduled to depart at 11pm but the hotel graciously called and offered us the room free of charge until 9pm that evening so she could lay flat. The staff is very friendly, well trained and accommodating . The property is beautiful . We have traveled the world and stayed at innumerable 5 star hotels. We will return to this resort and its beautiful people . Btw , if you can , I recommend the bungalows on the beach with their Outstanding intimate sunsets . Enjoy

Staying at 4 seasons, went here to have drinks at the Shipwreck bar and dinner at Moana. S*show. Unkept vibe all around. The bar was an actual wreck- poor service, bartended was visibly frustrated with the lack of support; the bar itself was dirty and messy. I have no idea what the other 5 people were actually doing. Like seriously. Beer had a 1 inch foam cover on the top 😅 Moana was much more “at least this looks like a nice typical Hawaiian place vibe”. Food was average if I am being nice. The only thing decent was the desert. We almost booked here last minute $ for $ the same as 4 seasons. WTF. I think some of the other reviews praising the property are manufactured; like no F* way! If had actually booked this and paid $6k i don’t know what I would have done. Writing this from my incredibly deluxe room and bed at 4S..
