The Mews @ Aboyne Close Birmingham

I booked this literally on the day we were all turning up (4 friends for a university reunion), having been let down at the last minute by another place. Really glad I did. It's very well set up for what we wanted - four good sized bedrooms, two with double beds and one with an en-suite. Also a decent shared bathroom and a loo downstairs as well so perfect for a group. It was very nicely decorated with a decent sized kitchen and a big fridge-freezer, full cooker etc. Instructions to get in were clear and helpful and it was easy to get in touch with the host. The location was perfect for what we wanted - you can walk to the city centre in 20 minutes (or it's also on a major bus route) and it was also reasonably close to the university. It's in a small close back from the main road so no traffice noise and opposite a pleasant park. We got this at a £50 reduction per night as it was on the day which made it fantastic value but I would say full price was also reasonable. You have to put down a deposit of £150 in case of breakages etc but I received this back just over a week later with no issue. Would definitely recommend

A couple of minor niggles - the shower in the ensuite was quite slow to drain so had to be slightly careful. Also the kitchen tap sometimes took a couple of goes to switch off fully for some reason. But, as I said, all pretty minor. A couple of ice cube trays in the freezer would be nice, as it's the sort of place where you're likely to spend a bit of time and have a chat and a drink! Otherwise - all great.

The house was exactly how the pictures depicted on booking.com. It was spotless and the owners had thought of everything to make our stay just perfect.

Great area, super quiet and easy access to the city centre. Lovely comfy beds and plenty of room for my whole family. Everyone got to pick their own room. Fully equipped kitchen, they kindly left a bottle of water and some chocolate.

We didn't realise we had to pay a damage deposit a few days beforehand. It will be fully refunded afterwards.

I was in town for a course. The hosts were very welcoming, communication was easy. House for what I needed was a perfect location with easy parking. Comfortable stay, no complaints from me.

The house was really clean and had good facilities and was very comfortable. Good location. Only 30 min walk into city centre.

If I was being very picky, it could do with some more utensils in the kitchen.

It had a personal touch.

Bath a bit scary for elderly to get out of.

Everything was lovely especially the host, very good communication. Lots of Towels thought that was a great touch and loved receiving the cookies.

For the amount we paid I would have expected at least some shower gel left for guests. Pillow choices were pretty poor and there's lots of creaking on the floor boards. I would also say that when providing a coffee machine it would have been nice for some coffee to be left rather than just packs. Also recycling bin would be good too. How to use the TV would be good as I couldn't get the NOWtv channels to work.
