Gale River Motel

I had to make a last minute change in our travel plans for our time in Franconia and saw these good reviews for the Gale River Motel and so booked a one night stay. Thank goodness it was for only one night. All I can say is we had a completely opposite experience, though the owner/manager was extremely nice, this is an old motel, the the walls are very thin and our very talkative neighbors woke us up with their conversation. Also, and the worst thing is, my husband killed two bugs in his bed that we are almost certain were bedbugs. There were several spiders in the room/bathroom as well. No wonder at the last minute we were able to find this hotel had a vacancy in peak foliage season with no minimum stay. Lets just say we will never consider staying there again.

I booked in mid-Sept., on the recommendation of an owner of another motel in town. (Late booking so close to foliage season, few if any, rooms remained within my budget) My need to attend a wedding and desire to be close to the venue left me with little, if any choice. Not sure what to expect, on arrival I got the most pleasant surprise I could've expected! Having driven five hours, and with darkness already set in, I was warmly greeted by sole proprietor Kevin on check in. He answered my MANY questions, and provided a plethora of information that served to relax me and make my stay very comfortable. Kevin's attention to detail is obvious as it carries over to condition of the property: 1) Cleanliness: impeccable inside and out. 2) Maintenance: perfect and up to date. No issues in the room, new roof with solar panels outside, and perfectly painted and clean Adirondak chairs with which to sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the New Hampshire mountains! As an added bonus, for you nostalgia buffs, think back to summer vacation with mom and dad in the 1960's, (swimming pool, swingset, sand box, AND bar-b-que grill provided) with the newness preserved inside and out, and amenities of 2019 (wi-fi, cable TV, refrigerator, coffee maker, continental breakfast with home baked goods and always available chocolate chip cookies) and a host with immense pride in his property, and you've got the Gale River Motel!

We've been visiting Kevin and his Gale River Motel for well over a decade. We enjoy our stays here so much that we make a point of planning at least a weekend every year just to stop in and enjoy All That is Kevin. Oh yeah, and the room is great, the amenities are great, the rates are great, and then there's the cookies... Our only concern has been the scarcity of good dinner options in Franconia (Littleton is pretty much a necessity) but the new Iron Furnace Brewery, a short walk down the street, solved that problem. Just go, you won't be disappointed.

Few things in life are certain, but based on the numerous times I have been a guest of Kevin’s, either solo or with my daughter, you can be assured of a clean room, a chill vibe, and his complimentary chocolate chip cookies upon check in. Pros: - Within walking distance to town - Pool AND a hot tub - Cable, mini fridge & did I mention the cookies? - Comfy Adirondack chairs located just outside your room to better enjoy the mountain views - VERY competitively priced for The White Mountains - The World’s Greatest Innkeeper! Cons: - You will eventually have to check out and face once again ‘The Real World...’ So what are you waiting for? Book it already👍🏻

My husband 2nd time , my first at Gale river motel, we stayed in motel room found it to be clean very comfortable beds and our dog loved outdoor grounds with trails in back perfect.The views are great! Owner was great super nice guy! The area is very nice beautiful can walk to a brewery iron furnace, Littleton cute town 10 min away , lovely Bethlehem 5 min. If you want a quiet scenic clean pet friendly too spot go here!
