SUMAQ PUNO

The location and the friendly welcome for check-in.

The first woman who did the check in was king, but when back in the evening, the reception guy charged us more than expected, due to service charge and USD/Soles conversion. Asked for us to pay with cash, or adding 4% extre for the Visa fees. To have a radiator In the room, we had to pay S/5.00 extra. There was no hot water at all.

We stayed just one night in the hotel. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. She offered us a lot of useful information and even helped us carry our heavy luggage upstairs to the room. The hotel is located in the center of Puno, just a block away from the Plaza de Armas, restaurantes, banks and shops. The front desk has a mini hair dryer that we could borrow. There's self-service free tea and coffee in the lobby 24 hours. We had to leave early to catch a bus and the hotel served us hot breakfast in the room and helped us call a taxi as well. The hotel is 100% recommended.

Everything was good. We had nothing to complain about our stay at the hotel.

Cold!

The staff is amazing, really friendly and helpful. The room was big and clean, a decent breakfast was delivered to the room, great location.

It was a little cold when we were there, but you get a bunch of blankets, and heating is available for rent.

place overrated, breakfast too simple, wanted to charge us more with their money exchange rate, beds and room dirty, no hot shower/ had to go down to the reception to ask for hot water and wait 15min, freezing cold room, the sheet on 1 bed wasn’t changed/found hairs and lints in the bed.

We couldn't speak more highly of our hostess who helped us so much throughout our stay. We got stuck in Puno due to the political situation and our hostess went above and beyond. To keep us safe, to ensure we had everything we needed when shops and restaurants were closed, to help us organise a method of transfer to be able to leave to Bolivia. Nothing was too much for her, she took initiative so many times to help us and everything with a smile. We are so grateful for all her help. Also, the best wifi connection AND the best shower (hot + decent pressure) we've had anywhere in Peru and Bolivia.
