Holman Riverfront Park Hotel Salem, Tapestry By Hilton

I just spent two nights at this property. I wanted to complement them on their staff. Each person I interacted with was courteous, professional and helpful. I felt that they try very hard to make customers happy. I would like to give a special thanks to Megan for all her assistance with our visit. She was very compassionate and helpful.

Clean hotel, friendly staff, valet efficient. Good location in the Salem downtown area.

Nice, excellent staff

I am excited to have a hotel like this in my hometown. I had high expectations. However, the rooms were sparse. It's really pricey for a basic stay. The rooms have no extras...no extra blanket, no microwave. We paid in advance for the breakfast the following morning. We woke up late and missed it, and they REFUSED to refund us. Also, we called and let them know we overslept and asked if we could have a later check out and they just said "no." Traffic on the street is loud even on the 5th floor. Upon arrival, we asked if we needed reservations for the two of us to eat at the restaurant and were told it wasn't necessary. When we arrived to eat, we were informed that there would be a 30 minute wait... :-/

The location is excellent, in downtown and walkable to everywhere, especially the river park. The room we had was excellent, very modern, floor to ceiling windows, kitchen, separate for TV viewing, dining table for working on a PC(if needed). Valet parking is pricey, but free and cheap parking is available within a couple blocks. Staff was excellent and would bend over backwards to accommodate.

When we checked in to our Studio Suite I was given the option of a room facing the front of the hotel or a "park view." Thinking that I prefered a room with no street noise I chose the "park view." Much to my surprise the park view had a view of the street immediately below that side of the hotel as well as another major highway that is located just adjacent to the hotel. To say the room was noisy would be a major understatement. This is also the only hotel I have ever reserved where the rooms come with "complimentary" ear plugs. After getting a poor nights sleep I had a conversation with the manager who kindly found us a an interior couryard view room with no street noise. The physical location of the hotel is not something management can change however it seems that based on the location the building could use noise abatement upgrades. The building itself is just two years old and other than this specific issue we thought the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was welcoming. There is an italian restaurant connected to the hotel which we thought had great food for lunch but was seriously lacking in quality for breakfast i.e. I ordered an expresso that was served in a paper cup with strawberries that seemed to have come out of the freezer.

I can’t say enough how amazing the Holman staff are! They went out of their way to make our stay one to remember! Huge shout out to Jessica at the front desk, Angle in the resturant and Chris & Jack in security/valet.

The hotel called themselves riverfront, but there is no river view, nor in a resort area. It's located directly at the main street, and there's no free parking. Food is nice in the hotel restaurant, nice experience for both breakfast and lunch. Staff is friendly as well. Some of the hotel staff at the reception is cold. The bed sheet looks like used... Shower is not really comfortable. It's a disappointment.

The restaurant and front desk staff were very professional and friendly. When we arrived and had lunch at the restaurant, the food was excellent but the flies were terrible. We have never experienced that amount of flies anywhere in our world travels. The staff actually acknowledged the problem and apologized. As for our room, on arrival we were told we had been switched out of the room we reserved because they had oversold that room option. The room we were in was very noisy and the bed was very uncomfortable which made for a horrible nights sleep. It’s worth mentioning that the room was very clean. Upon checkout, it took us 50 mins to get our car from valet. The staff was very kind and apologetic. Over all, it was the staff that were the saving grace and brightest part of our stay. They were all so helpful and kind even as we noticed that they were all there working long shifts because they were very short staffed.
