Santa Lucia Suites - Barranco

We love this hotel/apartment and continue to come back. Tha staff is most friendly and helpful and willing to go out of their way. The rooms, while all different are spacious and very well appointment enabling use to prepare full meals. The location, on the river and walkway is perfect for walking to restaurant's, shopping or just a short stroll.

Las habitaciones son sumamente cómodas , amplias y tienen cocina. Son ideales para una estadia larga. El personal es sumamente amable. Lo malo es que cuando cocinan el olor a comida de las habitaciones entra a las otras, es sumamente desagradable. El baño tenia un mal olor . No hay una recepcion en el dia, no hay donde dejar las maletas, definitivamente es mas un buen lugar para estadias largas y no tanto para cortas

The location was fantastic. The apartments are right beside one of Cuenca's main rivers, with a balcony overlooking the river. The historic part of town is a few minutes walk away. Lots of restaurants, museums, banks, etc. A good supermarket is a 10 minute walk away and an amazing municipal market (meat, veg, fruit, handicrafts, etc.) is a 10-15 minute walk away. The internet was fast and reliable. Reception was exceptionally responsive. There was weekly cleaning and the cleaner gave great recommendations about things to see in Cuenca such as the zoological park. We would stay there again.

There was no parking which would have bothered us if we had a vehicle.

Beautiful location by the river, plenty of room in the small apartment for 2-3 people to spread out and relax. Easy walk to the historic old town.

The location is exceptional. The size of the apartment is great. Very comfortable. We will definitely go back. Maybe next time for a month.

Our check-in went very smoothly. Receptionist, spoke perfect English and explained property, she took us to our rooms to make sure we settled in and answered all of our questions. During our stay all questions or issues we taken care of promptly. the rooms and common areas were very clean. The location was perfect, right on the river and it's walking path, shopping and restaurants are all within a short walking distance. Free parking was a huge bonus and short term parking in front of the hotel made check-in and check out very convenient. I have been coming to Cuenca for 10 years and this is my new go to place.

The suite was well appointed and large with views on the balcony to the Tomebamba River. Lots of light. All the necessities in the kitchen. Comfortable sofa. Very quiet at night especially in the bedroom. Belen, the English speaking guest relations person, was fantastic. She stuck with solving an issue with hot water in the shower staying consistent. After several tries it was resolved. She genuinely cared.

What made this suite not worth the $65 a night was the constant traffic noise across the river on a major thoroughfare, and from other building tenants: slamming doors, loud conversations, etc. Although the suites look relatively new, the developer did not value soundproofing walls, floors and windows for quests. If you're gone most of the day it will be okay.
