The Grand Hotel, Hurghada

Great grounds, lovely gardens, the layout with different buildings is well thought, and it’s close to the beach. The facilities at the beach as well are great (I believe they are managed by the hotel), with possibility to have lunch at the beach. Good variety of food, with the umali/umm ali being a favourite! All staff were absolutely great, in particular Tarek and Hany looking after the rooms who were very nice and helpful. Staff at reception are approachable and would try their best to make sure your stay is comfortable, particularly Haliem H who is the person to go to for any requests or concerns. The entertainment is ok, but what the hotel could do is extend the evening bar time to midnight, allowing guests to relax, or dance and party if they with to for a little longer.

The hotel is quite dated and the updated rooms are not completed at a high decorating standard. I didn’t have hot water in the first room and it did take three days to get moved, but the new room was very good. This was my first time at the hotel and I’ve been told by guests who have been going there for many years that there were far less boats moored and the impact is quite huge, one day there was a toilet seat and nappy in the water- which I am sure didn’t get there from the people on the beach. Another thing very noticeable was that from about 4/5pm you could smell the boats ‘fuel/oil, a clear sign of pollution - surely the hotel could do something about this!

Die Ausstattung ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen! Preis /Leistung stimmen nicht mehr überein!

Das Personal total nett und höfflich sowie alle sehr komunikativ .. viele fragen dich beim vorbeigehen ob alles gut ist jnd wie es einem geht Beim essen fragen die kellner immer wieder ob man etwas trinken will in der früh wenn man keinen kaffee genommen hat ob man einen haben will
