Chewuch Inn & Cabins

We just spent 3 nights at Chewuch Inn & Cabins. I use other traveler reviews to aid in selecting hotels when we travel. My wife and I are retired and travel extensively. Having said that, I think some of the 1 star reviews recently posted are misleading as they relate to the Chewuch Inn. They do seem to be having some issues that should be pointed out to fellow travelers but 1 star reviews seem to be an effort to punish the hotel vs inform others reading the reviews. I also find the numerous 5 star reviews to be higher then what we experienced. Here are the pros to staying there: The price for the cabins are fairly reasonable with breakfast included. The cabins are laid out nice and in reasonable shape for what was charged. We felt the breakfast included was above average in quality of food and selection when compared to other hotels we have stayed at. Cons: The hot tubs with the cabins are not usable in winter temperatures even if they are working. The first cabin we were given the tub was not even plugged in to power. We asked to be moved to another cabin with a working hot tub which we were, however after the tub heater and jets ran none stop for all three nights we stayed, it was only able to reach 94 degrees with the cover on. Needless to say we did not have the hot tub to use which was part of why we booked the cabin. The other negative we experienced was very icy parking and walking areas which should have had some sand spread for safety (could be some liability to hotel for injuries). My understanding is the the Chewuch Inn & Cabins were owned by the same family for decades and they loving cared for their Inn and guest. More recently the Inn was sold to Frank hotels which may not have the same care for their guest as the previous hands on owners. My recommendation to Frank Hotels is to NOT advertise having hot tubs since they are not working or maintained. This causes harm to your business. People have expectations based on your stated information. Most people who booked looking forward to a good soak after skiing all day will not be repeat customers not to mention the harm negative reviews cause your business.

Kitchen/breakfast staff were lovely! They prepared and served a variety of homemade baked goods daily, along with egg dishes, fruit, etc. The location is perfect, walkable to downtown Winthrop, XC ski trail, ice rink, and public library. There's also a nearby walking trail to the grocery store. Cabins are modest, but comfortable. Kitchenette was mostly good but needs new pans for the stovetop (existing were badly scorched and scratched).

We booked a cabin for 8 nights over Christmas and were especially looking forward to the hot tub. Unfortunately, the hot tub for our cabin was broken for the duration of the stay (it had been drained and was waiting on a replacement pump) and no alternate cabin was available. While this wasn't the fault of the staff, I do feel it could have been handled better. We had to repeatedly contact the office to ask for updates. Ultimately we received a discount to reflect that we didn't get the amenities promised, and I appreciate that, but we had to explicitly ask for it and also follow up when the expected amount wasn't credited. Being proactive with communication and goodwill gestures would have left a better impression.

I’m sad to write this review because I’ve been waiting for weeks for them to remedy the situation , but they have not . And based off recent reviews , others have experienced the same. We booked our room and after a 5 hour drive went to check into it after being given the passcode , only to step into a disaster of a room that had been left uncleaned and not tended to. When we went to the front office , the receptionist called management , which seemed to care very little . And they ended up making HER go and clean the room for us. There has been zero apology or effort for compensation , even after I’ve let multiple messages trying to get a hold of management. We loved our stay last year and the location of everything , but this was handled so poorly, they have officially lost our business

I love the location and the setting. It was beautiful in the wintertime. And the cabin was amazing, perfect for 2 people the bed was alright a little soft for us, but I mean we're staying in a cabin that's not our own bed. Other than that, wonderful experience great breakfast friendly, staff, in all a wonderful experience, we will return

The front desk staff was friendly, but hard to find. The cabin we stayed in was tired and not clean. One reason we booked the cabin was the hot tub. The pictures can describe it better than I can. The front desk staff was horrified at the condition, but unable to do anything. We asked to move cabins, but it also had a defective hot tub. After numerous attempts to reach management, with no response, I felt compelled to warn others about the condition and lack of professionalism at this hotel.

Well appointed, tight due to the extra amenities in a small cabin. Liked the fireplace and hot tub as it was fall and we were gravel riding in the sleet unexpectedly. Good breakfast!

A little tight, no more than two people. Very little storage for clothes, gear. Worked off of hooks by door, a cubby and our travel bags for a wedding and outdoor adventure gear. A hanger for the wedding wear would have been a plus. It could use a covered space for bikes outside, or at least someplace to lock them up to. If we were skiing, it would be good not to have to bring them wet inside, they could be on the back deck but not secure. The cabins are not on the river as the photos seem to indicate.
