Room to move and the ability to cook a decent meal

Parking - street parking on a very narrow busy road Double bed mattress should have been replaced years ago ( maybe the owners should sleep in the bed to experience very spring as we did. we ended up sleeping in the twin beds.

The house was excellent value for money good location

The only problem i have was with the agents (Host and stay) we had several emails asking us to pay more if we wanted to arrive earlier, most places we have stayed we email you we the property is available. I wouldn't have minded one email but we had quite a few, then we had several telling us that any damages would have to be paid for. Of course we know that that is the case we don't need consent reminders .

The location was great for my needs.

cleanliness, cobwebs, dust. The double bed was unstable, and the mattress was really uncomfortable; the duvet cover was too small for the duvet. the carpet covered up holes in the stairs. The furnishings were a bit of a mish-mash, more 'that'll do' than a product of a lot of time and effort going into such a place.

The surroundings were lovely super beaches.

Unfortunately, there was no working TV at the premises.The shower was surrounded by black mould, which wasn't good,we did report this and sent photos to the agent on behalf of Booking.com.The most sad thing was that we felt we had to come home a day earlier..

Very clean and very spacious.

The property was clean and well equipped. It is in a good location to visit places such as Saltburn, Whitby Staithes and Runswick Bay. Our short stay was very good value for money and we would certainly return to the Railway Cottage.

A few minor criticisms: Although on Brotton Road, the property is in Carlin How, not Brotton. This is not as nice a village as Brotton with few facilities and a bit run down. The property is on a very busy road as is the parking. The shower and bathroom sink are slow to drain. Overall it is a good place to stay and the criticisms are minor.

A wonderfully presented, clean and comfortable stay was had at The Railway cottage. The facilites were very good and extra touches such as blackout material avaliable to use was very useful in a heat wave. The cottage is in a good location for travelling to tourist spots. We found the matresses uncomfortable as they are very soft but this is just personal preference. I would also agree with other reviews that the backyard needs some attention and could do with a tidy up. It can be noisy as the property is on a main road with train track and steel works behind it, however we got used to the noise and slept well. It's great to be able to cook some of your own meals at the cottage as there arent many places locally to eat, within walking distance. Its also great to have a washing machine. Overall we would recommend a stay at this cosy cottage.

Very busy road bins not emptied by the binmen more waste bins in bedrooms and a cheese grater

The cottage was lovely. Very clean and to a modern standard. Lovely location with amenities near by. Plenty of space and had everything we needed

The mattress on the double bed really needs replacing. Me and my Husband did not sleep very well as you could feel every spring. Also there was a dog poo out back. It appeared from the guest book the previous visitors had had a dog with them.
