Casa Selva Sayulita

The location was incredible, a short walk to the beach, and the property was gorgeous. We felt like we were secluded in the rainforest, able to hear the birds - we even saw a coatimundi wander past our room on our first morning! The large windows provided an immersive experience. The bed was comfortable, the pool was beautiful and there were plenty of outdoor showers perfect for washing off sand. There was also a large container of drinking water in our room which was very much appreciated.

There were instruction to not hang anything wet on the wood towel bars, but of course since we were there to spend time on the beach and there is a lot of humidity, everything was wet and there wasn't anywhere to hang things that wasn't wood. We tried to be respectful but there weren't a lot of options for things to do with our wet clothes, towels and swimsuits. They also advertised a breakfast, which we were not able to find until the last morning when one of the staff paused us to ask why we hadn't come. He then pointed out a sign which was 1.) 30 feet from the main path and 2.) illegible from such a distance. The instructions given to us on booking said breakfast was in a palapa above the parking area, but it was actually on the other side of the property. So that was disappointing, and the staff member that stopped us seemed annoyed and was a little rude that we hadn't come for breakfast and that we hadn't seen or were able to read this sign. This was right as we were leaving, so that kind of left a bad feeling on our way out. In retrospect, I am sure they had probably prepared food and then had to waste it, which I feel bad for. If we had had proper instructions or indicators on where to find it, we would have gladly enjoyed breakfast there. We still loved it anyway.

It was very pretty, the pool was nice and the plants around the property were beautiful and well maintained.

Our first room had fleas and was very small with an awkward and somewhat dangerous staircase separating levels. The walls were not sealed - I could see gaps where windows met the walls, so mosquitos got in. The bathroom was behind the bed with a sliding door which was weird and not private. We ended up asking to switch rooms and paid $30 extra a day for a larger room. This room was much better but had similar privacy issues, with the bathroom only being separated by a wall and right behind the bed. I was with a close friend so it was fine but it would have been awkward to be here with a significant other. Check in staff was rude to us when we checked in but ended up chilling out over the next few days and being nicer. Overall it was fine but just not really worth the price.

So beautiful. Felt like we were in a super comfortable little tree house. Bed was great, AC got super cold, balcony was beautiful overlooking the property. Would definitely stay here again for the price and location.

The windows and doors were not fully sealed so the air conditioning escaped. Overall though amazing stay
