Everything good about the hotel was however cancelled by crazy employees. Everyone wants a bribe or tip by force. An employee came into our room at 3am demanding to inspect the room to check if it's clean, then demanded a tip to ensure it's cleaned in the morning. The gate man was told to lock the gate and prevent us from leaving because we didn't leave enough tips to them. How do you tip such people? Our fixer went back to the reception to confirm we paid our bill, and yes, it was paid but they wanted more tip. An employee asked for a tip to show us where the toilets were. Generally, most locals in Kinshasa will ask for a bribe if you need any help like just asking where the bus stop is.
