White Cliffs Underground Motel

Unusual place. Interesting little museum inside the hotel too. Great staff member welcomed and helped us with all our questions. Continental breakfast supplied.

Unfortunately there’s tough times right now (weather, fuel & OS), so restaurant was closed. But local pub has great food.

Different - underground accommodation was good- Breakfast OK - No Dining for Dinner a bit disappointing- but considering how difficult it is to run a tourist business at this time I can understand

Rooms quite warm, lack of air flow. Feeling of claustrophobia in bedrooms.

Being underground was a different experience. The sunset from on top of the motel was spectacular. Dinner & breakfast were ok when you consider the distance from a supply base. We did a mine tour which was very informative and well worth doing. Facilities are shared which is not ideal, but they were adequate. In our part of the complex there were 6 bathroom a couple of showers. Staff were helpful

The obvious thing to like is staying underground. Very unique experience. Nice staff. Great Sunrise and sunset location.

This place is in a really tired, rundown state. As many other reviews have mentioned, it’s in desperate need of an overhaul. The room we had was fairly average at best, with peeling walls, dirty carpets and ceilings—just generally neglected. I’m not sure what the owner’s situation is, but it’s clear that urgent investment is needed. They really need to put some money into maintaining it better. It’s such a shame, because this place has so much potential—it’s in a unique position and could really be the best place for accommodation in White Cliffs. With more negative reviews piling up, it’s only going to drive potential customers away. A fresh coat of paint, new carpet, and some upgraded amenities could make a huge difference. I know it’s an investment, but in today’s economic climate, spending money to improve the property will be the only way to keep it going. I don't mean to sound disgruntled, as we all enjoyed our stay. I just don't want to see this unique place fail and fall into disrepair.

The beds were really comfortable.

A totally unique experience to stay underground. The dinner served was delicious and the staff helpful. Best place to watch beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Plenty of rooms for a large group.
