Note that smoking is strictly prohibited at this property. You will be fined $500 if there is any evidence of cigarets having been smoked on site. This is non-negotiable due the extreme fire risk in place all summer in Central Otago. All guests need to have a moderate level of fitness as you are required to walk 5-10 minutes to your camp site, over uneven terrain uphill. Access to Mt Gold is especially steep. Please note the property will contact you to provide key collection instructions.This property does not accommodate bachelor(ette) or similar parties. Managed by a private host A deposit may be required at the property.

"An experience to remember!"

Remoteness (once there) great views, comfy bed, cosy tent, well equipped apart from cooking facilities

Road to the parking was very rough. Even turned round thinking we were on wrong road. Don’t think the car hire people would be happy! The walk up was far more difficult than expected despite the warning. Feel some sort of small cooking stove would be beneficial as trying to boil a kettle on a bbq in very windy conditions was near impossible!

"Disappointing could be great - dangerous, dont stay."

Comfy bed, amazing views, seeing stars

Dangerous Walk up - two of us fell over walking down as ground unstable Road was really tough - dont even try without a 4x4 Noisiest place ever - must be a bar over the lake playing extremely loud music until 11pm - the tent was vibrating.

La vue est belle depuis la tente, l’isolement est complet.

L’accès est très difficile, même avec une bonne voiture, l’état de la route fait qu’il est impossible de passer sans rayer sa voiture sur les épais buissons épineux. L’ascension à pieds vers la tente est difficile pour des personnes fatiguées ou en mauvaise santé - porter des valises est impossible, il faut prévoir de petits sacs à dos. Les équipements sur place sont vieux et la plupart ne fonctionnent pas - en particulier le barbecue, ce qui rend impossible de se cuisiner un repas sur place. Or, il est également impossible d’arriver de nuit, donc il est impératif de se prévoir un pique nique froid pour le soir et le lendemain matin. Le ménage n’est pas fait entre les passages, en particulier les toilettes ne sont pas vidées, ce qui rend leur utilisation répugnante. Une batterie portable pour les téléphones est fournie mais ne fonctionne pas - il faut absolument prévoir d’en apporter ou arriver batteries pleines.

Very pretty views

Unclean/unhygenic, infested with spiders in between tent layers and inside, shower did not work (husband is plumber and couldn’t get it to work) toilet stank so bad, definitely need a Ute for getting in there as our suv just about got stuck.

Great views. Cute yurt. Ok bed, loo and shower.

Very steep ‘200 meter goat track’ from car park to tent. Road to the main gate was poor. Owners not fully honest about road and walking track conditions.
