Wonderful architecture and incredibly helpful staff. Soufiane in particular made sure our stay was pleasant and recommended very nice neighbouring places to visit. The place is easy to find and very close to parking. The permanent residents are also nice( 2 cats and 3 turtles)

"Beautiful riad with an amazing host; perfect base for exploring Meknes."

9.0

Our stay at Riad Palais Marouane in Meknes was truly wonderful. The riad itself is absolutely beautiful, with a pristine and inviting atmosphere that perfectly captures the charm of Moroccan architecture. Its location is fantastic, just a short walk from Bab Raiss and close to several key sights in Meknes, which was ideal for our brief visit. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious dinner at the riad, complemented by a couple of bottles of wine, and the breakfast, while simpler, was also very good. What truly made our stay exceptional was Sofian, who was an amazing host and cook, making us feel incredibly welcome.

Honestly, there was very little to dislike about Riad Palais Marouane.

"Liked the Accommodation, but Lacking in Communication & Transparency"

6.0

The riad had typical Moroccan charm, with a few nice touches that aren't necessarily standard. We really appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms, strong WiFi, consistent hot water, and kindness of the staff. Once we arrived, it was well located to explore the medina of Meknes.

We arrived to this hotel a little exasperated, and sadly, our impression has lasted long after check-out. We took the train in from Casablanca and were concerned about reaching the hotel. When we asked if we could schedule any type of transport, we were told we'd have no problem getting a cab. Turns out, none of the cabs would take our family of 4. After trying for 40 minutes and reaching out to the riad again in hopes of some advice to no answer, we ended up walking with our 2 young daughters and bags. When we checked in, we asked about having dinner there (a nice camel dish!) We were told the price (as there is no written menu) and agreed to dine there the following night. When we checked out, we were charged 3x the price told for dinner; when we explained to the owner we only ordered 1 portion, he adjusted the rate back to what we discussed and wrote down my total owed in euros. But when my credit card was run, the receipt handed to me was in dirhams - not euros, as stated on the Booking listing and my reservation. The exchange rate used was drastically higher than anything we were charged in our 6 weeks in Morocco, and I had no idea I was being charged in dirhams. When the final charge came through, I first reached out to the owner to ask if there was anything we could do about the currency discrepancy, and was told that was simply their exchange rate. Booking.com agreed to handle the inexplicable currency loss, but asked for an invoice from the property. Both they and I tried to procure one from the riad over the course of a few weeks, but none was ever provided. I'd caution anyone paying by credit card to confirm the currency they're being charged in and to not leave without an invoice.
