The so say hotel was appalling is an understatement.The room was disgusting in every way. It was so unclean. No soap in the bathroom and the toilet door would not close. All doors and carpets were filthy. No reception staff to complain to. I ended up with sickness and diarrhea. It was full of people with special needs. It certainly can not be rated as a hotel it's more like a care home. The worst place I have ever stayed in. I have requested a full refund. I strongly suggest you remove it from your website. It is not fit for purpose.If you can help me to recieve a refund I would be very grateful. There also was mould in the room.

Terrible smell in the hallways.

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience demands one. Our stay at The Mercury Motel was extremely disappointing for several reasons: Hot Water Limitations: The property only provides hot water during limited hours—7:45–9:45 AM and 4:00–9:00 PM. This critical detail was not mentioned at the time of booking. We couldn’t even take a shower at night, which is completely unacceptable for any accommodation. No Staff, No Help: There was no one at the reception the entire time. Multiple calls to the emergency number went unanswered. No one was available to help with anything throughout our stay. Room Conditions: The room was unbearably hot with no proper ventilation. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable and added to the poor sleep quality. Horrible Smell: There was a strong, unpleasant odor throughout the building that made the atmosphere even worse. Poor Cleanliness and Maintenance: The entire property was in disrepair. Peeling ceilings, dirty bathtub with hair in it, neglected and dying plants, and worn-out common areas. It looked and felt unclean and uncared for. Misleading Information: Only upon arrival did we find a notice inside the motel with all the actual conditions (like the hot water schedule), which were not disclosed on the booking platform. This is misleading and borders on dishonest advertising. I have submitted a formal refund request and sincerely hope others are warned before booking this place. Spend your money elsewhere—this was not worth it.

The Mercury is basic and since it has been around for ages, a little tired. Tea facilities in room good, tv worked fine. No soap/shampoo but being used to other hotels, I wasn’t expecting that but since there is a Spar next door it was easy enough to get some. The staff were very friendly and helpful and a request for early arrival was acknowledged promptly. Perfectly acceptable for what we needed but don’t expect a Premier Inn type experience.

Really does need work to bring it up to a higher level but I doubt that it would be first on their list of priorities.

Booked 2 rooms, from the moment we walked into this motel the smell of mould hit you. Everything was filthy,the ceiling was hanging down, carpet disgusting, reception closed, 2 envelopes left with our names on and a yale key inside. Both rooms were absolutely disgusting, all the walls full of mould,stains all over the walls, the bedding felt wet it was that damp, every bit of surface was damaged, stained. We called the emergency number, was told to call the motel in a few days when the owner was there. There was people living in this dump.it should be demolished. I wouldn't let animals stay there. We had to book another hotel and we left. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Environmental health should go yo this place.

Nothing. My friend and I booked a room each but couldn’t stay.

My friend and I booked a room each. On arrival there was as a strong damp smell. We collected our keys, which were in envelopes on a desk. We couldn’t stay there as the rooms were so dirty, mouldy and damp. We left within 30 minutes of arriving and had to find somewhere else to stay. Absolutely disgusting

The pictures on their profile are years old, and doesn't reflect the disgusting state of this place. Cold damp rooms with black mould covering the walls, filthy bedding and bathrooms you wouldn't wash your dog in. The whole place is filthy / stinks and really should be demolished, or closed until millions are spent to sort the problems out. Avoid avoid avoid, there are nice premier inns a little further on a middlebrook.

I booked a room for 2 adults, as the location was good for what we needed. When we arrived, no one was around, and an envelope left on the counter with my name on it, containing the key. The whole place was dirty and had a musty smell. When we got to the room, the beds were not clean, with hairs on the pillows. No bedside table or lamp, a dirty kettle and one cup. There were 2 hand towels, so no chance of either of us being able to shower. We did not stay, and left to find better accommodation. Avoid at all cost.

So where do I start? We took our 91 year-old frail mother. She had a single room and we had a double room. The room was below freezing when we arrived and it was bitterly cold in both the bedroom and the bathroom. There was a useless wall heater which produced zero amount of comfort for her, but she ended up sleeping in her clothes, and didn’t actually sleep at all because it was so bitterly cold for her. The room also felt damp with signs of wallpaper peeling and pour insulation. We couldn’t even raise concerns with any staff as the shutters were down when we arrived and the shutters were down when we left.
