Oshi Ryokan

When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the owner’s wife, who showed us to our room where green tea and treats were waiting — a lovely touch, especially as it was pouring with rain. The room, while slightly retro, was full of character and wonderfully peaceful. We loved sitting by the window, listening to the rain and gazing out at the mountains until dinner. Dinner did not disappoint — it was the best meal we had in Japan. The owner was a real character and made the experience even more memorable by chatting with us as he served the food. When we checked out, we were able to leave our bags while we explored the local shrine trail. As we hadn’t reserved a bus seat, the owner kindly offered to call a taxi for us, though fortunately we managed to catch the local service in the end.

ご飯がおいしい。 ここのお風呂で筋肉痛知らず。 ご主人も奥様も優しくて、細やかな気遣いがすごい。 ゆったりとくつろげるお部屋。気持ちいい。

I highly recommend choosing both breakfast and dinner. The food is plentiful and very very delicious and it is served with a lot of care. I could leave my luggage in the morning and was given maps and suggestions as well as directions. I was also provided with a bell to scare away bears as I was hiking alone. In the morning, The Owner's daughter drove me all the way till kagami lake, waited patiently while I took a lot of pics and then drove me all the way to Okusha. Very accommodating and very very helpful. The property is a heritage property and worth staying in. The room and futon were not too fancy but clean and comfortable.
