Unelma Bungalows

Property is very clean and well maintained, is on the beach, colorfully decorated and has lush plants. It has gate access for security.

After seeing & reading reviews, I was excited to stay here. It's a darling property but upon arrival, we learned our bungalow was not air conditioned, although others are, as we later learned from other guests. In May, it was too hot for comfort, so we shortened our stay from 2 to 1-night. We appreciate management accommodating without charging a cancel fee. If we had A/C, we would likely have stayed 2nd night to enjoy more of Bucerias. It would be better if management was easier to contact. WhatsApp calls and communication was very slow. Luckily once we arrived, the housekeeping staffer was able to reach her quickly. Front and back property gates have different access codes, so along with our bungalow access code, we found it difficult to keep straight which code is for what door.

The property was really beautiful. It was very private and right on the beach which was roped off for guests of Unelma. It was really clean and well kept and the staff were lovely. The location was great as well. They do have a restaurant on the street side which did feature a Jazz singer (2 or 3 nights as I recall) which was a bit loud if you have the bungalow above it (we did) but it ended early and we enjoy jazz so it wasn’t a problem for us at all. I would highly recommend Unelma Bungalows.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

The property was lush with gorgeous vegetation, very tropical feel with beautiful structures that blended perfectly. It was quiet and impeccably clean. The staff was incredibly friendly and very patient with my lack of Spanish language skills. The saltwater pool was the perfect temperature and felt absolutely luxurious to swim in. From there, out the back gate to a beautiful stretch of soft sand to watch the sunset, divine!

The mattress was not the most comfortable for me, but for others it may be perfect so that’s a personal preference. I had no hot water in the shower or bathroom, but considering how warm the outside temperature was I just took my showers at night when the cool water was welcomed.

It was a beautiful setting; the staff were very friendly, and it was right in the center of Busceria, by the beach. The kitchens were really nice, and everything was exceptionally clean.

There is nothing to complain about, but only to let people know that Bungalow 2 has a thatched roof, which I liked; however, my wife has a hard time sleeping and finds it a little noisy with the sound of the ocean. Bungalow 1 is down below, which is quieter.

We didn't have breakfast at the Bungalow. We either fixed our own or went to local restaurants.

Could use more coat hooks in the bedroom and/or bathroom.

We LOVED the gardens and the bats! The beach is great, but we really loved having a nearly-private pool. María, Timo, Oscar, and Lucia are all extremely kind and helpful. We loved having a functional kitchen for lunches. (Some guests aren’t fans of music from the jazz club, but we found it charming and fun.)

The only thing we might change is to have more comfortable furniture for lounging on your terrace for long-term guests. (The traditional palm and leather type of loveseat wasn’t really the type of seating to put your feet up and read a book from.)
