The Catar Cottages

Everything about our stay was great. As we arrived we were warmly welcomed with a coffee. The staff are really lovely! The bungalow was clean, the bed was very comfortable and I really enjoyed the view from our veranda into the beautiful garden.

Owner was happy to help when we had questions. He helped book a snorkeling trip for us which was convenient (although the actual snorkeling is not good in Nusa Penida unfortunately).

Wifi is terrible. It doesn't work if you are lying on the bed and barely works when you are sat outside on the balcony feeding the mosquitoes. Breakfast was very poor. 1 piece of white bread, an egg and a tiny slice of watermelon. Every day the same. The shower floods and attracts mosquitoes since water lays stagnant all day. Mosquitoes and flies everywhere so hard to use the balcony especially if you want to eat/drink something there. Rooms are close so you hear your neighbor rolling over in their bed, yawning, etc. Beds are very squeaky and bouncy too which doesn't help. No pool (it's not advertised there is one but for the price there are better accommodation including a pool). Power went out one night. It came back on an hour later but it was still annoying (although it might not have been limited to this hotel). Overall I was disappointed. It's clear the owner hasn't taken any previous feedback onboard because the wifi, poor breakfast and flooding issues have been highlighted several times before. The location is also not that great, despite it appearing you are in the jungle, you're actually on a noisy dirt road. I regret booking for 4 nights and definitely wouldn't come back sadly.

We loved the area. So many plants and trees around the cottage! Rooms were a good size, very clean. Toileteries were provided as well. Breakfast (eggs and fruit) was served at your doorstep. Within 10min by scooter so many warungs around. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They booked for us a ferry back to Bali, even escorted us to the port. Very nice overall stay. Would stay again.

No swimming pool, but there was no need for it as we explored Penida the whole day.

Nice garden area that the rooms are located in. Nyoman was there to offer help most of the time. Good scooter parking.

Wifi did not work at all in my room. Breakfast ended very strictly at 10:30 (asked at 10:40 and was told no), and was not very good.
