Choyo Resort Hotel

The location was great with free parking onsite. 7-11 across the street, cable car close by, many places to visit within a 20 minute drive. The room was large and had a great view of the river, cliffs and fall foliage.

It is an older property that caters mostly to large tour groups. This makes meals loud and crowded. The food at both breakfast and dinner was often cold and mostly the same over three nights stay. Everything is dated, but functions ok, most areas need to be upgraded.

The room is just nice for 3 of us. Basically all is ok for 2 nights. It would be good if the Hotel have 1-2 dishes difference each day as it would be boring eating the same food everyday.

Due to travel issues we were unable to check in on our booked date. The hotel shifted our dates without us asking and at no extra cost so that we wouldn’t miss out on the night we’d booked. This was very thoughtful and although we couldn’t take advantage of this it was excellent customer service.

Buffet meals were very good. Property was clean and well located. Free drinks in the lobby lounge.

Air conditioner in room did not work so room was stiflingly hot, even though ourside temps were mild

The onsen was great. The dinner was delicious with many options and new dishes to try.

The room was terrible. Dusty, smelly. The furniture was dirty. The mattress on the floor (supposed to be the traditional japanese experience) was very uncomfortable. The bathroom was so old it could be in a museum . Climbing out of the extremely high small bath was even for a dancer like me, difficult. We preferred to use the onsen to take a shower. We were happy to leave and this is on our 3 week Japan trip, the only hotel where we felt like this.

Location very convenient to the Ropeway station. Convenient to key sights

Location, mountainous view.

Buffet was average . Lift was slow. Room is dated needs renovation . Biggest frustration was no English speaking staff which was unusual for a touristic hotel.
