Momoyama

It’s a pretty place on a hill with a very steep road. For some reason, we were the only ones booked there for the night 😳but we had great service and meals!!

Momoyama is nestled in the hills above Matsumoto. We stopped in at the Information kiosk at the train station and they called Momoyama and we were able to get a shuttle up to the hotel . Which is good because it was probably an hours walk away . The location is gorgeous . The hotel is a traditional ryokan . We both had a wonderful bath in the hot springs / onsen . Then a traditional dinner was served to us in our room . 8 courses , each unique and delicious . Our beds were made for us and we settled into a wonderful nights sleep . In the morning we had a wonderful breakfast in their reception area overlooking the city .. It was one of our best stays in Japan !

It would be difficult to go back and forth from the hotel to the town if you were just staying at the hotel and planning on that .

The breakfast & dinner is always great. The portion of food served is kind of a lot.! The staff was very attentive to our needs. Even if you do not ask for a lamp, they bring and put in your room in the next day!

If we can choose the volume of food served. Carrying the luggage down the hallway to our room, you need to use the stairs. Sliding doors was not smooth to use. Lighting in the sitting area watching the garden has poor lighting.

Hospitality is excellent!! Each meals are great quality!! The best view !! If you are really experience for true Japanese style, I am highly recommend this Ryokan.

If you are not coming by car, access is might difficult in the town.

Everything, the accomodation has a great garden with an amazing view to the city and mountains. Inside had a pond with a little bridge and just beautiful altogether... we were amazed in many ways. Dinner service was such an experience we didn't live in any other place in Japan. The hospitality, friendliness, helpfulness... I couldn't recommend enough this stay!!

Absolutely nothing, everything was great!

Attentive staff, magnificent garden, panoramic view, memorable food, good introduction to a traditional ryokan. Easy-to-use onsen facilities.
