"Great for Family"

10.0

A unique place to stay. The owner was great and stayed up for our late check in. They have a bonfire at night for everyone. The rooms are cute. Have everything you need, 2 comfy queen beds, heat and air conditioning, bathroom and TV. Great experience! The owner gave recommendations for places to eat and get coffee, although coffee is available in room. For a unique experience, I would definitely give it a try. Not for those expecting luxury but for those wanting a safe, clean and comfortable experience. We'd go again. If you do, make a stop at Ace coffee for a really great latte.

"Wigwam and a bonfire"

10.0

My husband and I have wanted to stay in a Wigwam since we saw them as kids. We finally made it. Keith does a great job explaining the history of the hotel including addressing the cultural appropriation. The wigwam may be considered small to some but we were fine. Great bed! One of the best things was the bonfire in the evening. We sat outside with two moms and their kids and chatted for a couple hours. Phones were largely ignored.

"Great location"

10.0

Very unique location. Easy to find and close by to attractions and you have your own parking space right next to the unit. Air conditioning did a very nice job of cooling the unit.

Nothing.

"Nostalgia is a country to which we cannot return."

10.0

Nostalgia is a country to which we cannot return. It is a past that is lost, or perhaps never existed the way we think it did. Perhaps we can agree that it existed and that its loss still causes us pain, while still understanding that it was never perfect. At Wigwam Village #2 you can visit this country, this chrome-plated past, for a few days and nights. You can sleep in a concrete teepee on your way to retrace Route 66, or while visiting one of our country’s first tourist attractions, Mammoth Cave. There are no whirlpool tubs in this country, no room service (and watch your head in the tiny bathroom) but there is a sky filled with stars over the communal firepit where people actually talk and get to know one another. Kids burned marshmallows to charcoal as we discussed the serious business of road trips, both epic ones and short getaways. As we talked and the stars spun overhead, we were the kids running in circles around our own parents. The cars in the lot were electric, or wood-paneled station wagons with coolers in the back, or tons of finned Detroit steel. The folks at Wigwam Village #2 are rebuilding. Their rooms are not the cheapest. They are dealing with the cultural insensitivity of the past, and with infrastructure that nostalgia alone cannot fix. While doing so, they are holding open a door to a past that is still more than worth a visit. Stop by, put down the phone and take a look.

"So excited that we found this piece of Americana!"

10.0

All of the history of the wigwam village number two, Keith’s talk during check-in and the notebook in the room definitely gave you a great sense of its history. Loved the fire pit and circle of chairs. We got to talk to two other couples and it was very relaxing.

We can’t think of anything we didn’t like, but do look forward to the continued restoration of the big wham

"Unique, funky and fun experience!"

10.0

Such a unique, funky and fun experience. There was a bonfire. We sat around it and met other guest and shared tales from our travels. Bring your own marshmallows or hot dogs. They have long sticks and benches. The owner was very friendly, met us and gave the history of the place.

I didn’t mind it one bit but travelers should know that these are historic from the 1937 and therefore the interior feels outdated. It adds to the charm and owner said he’s in the process of renovating them.
