Peony Cruises

We were upgraded to Mon Chéri Cruise and given a bigger room, which made our anniversary even more special. They set up a beautifully decorated table for us and included a cocktail, which was such a lovely touch. Ann and Jimmy, our waiters, were absolutely excellent—so friendly, always smiling, and genuinely happy to help, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathtub was amazing 👏🤩 we love everything 🙌

The cruise was an unforgettable experience. The staff were very friendly and responsive, and the 2 day itinerary was swiftly run and there were a good range of activities - the kayaking and swimming around the karsts were particularly amazing. The food was varied and all excellent. Special thanks to Hoang for being an entertaining guide and Ducky for his attentive care at the restaurant.

From the moment we checked in at Tuan Chau, the personalized service was noticeable and welcoming. My wife and I selected Peony Cruise for the Ha Long/Lan Ha Bay portion of our honeymoon. Throughout our two day/one night stay we received immaculate service from the entire crew. Ken was an amazing Cruise Manager, very kind and informative and extremely talented as an entertainer too, especially on that flute! Hugo was spectacular as the F&B Manager, he took great care of us during all of our meals, crushed the sky deck happy hour and even helped arrange some uniquely special surprises for my wife and I during our time on the ship. Finally, Bobby (the F&B Supervisor) was also amazing and made us feel right at home throughout our two days. The crew decorated our room, provided special gifts to celebrate our honeymoon, and even organized a special dinner celebration for my wife and I, complete with a lovely romantic performative presentation. Overall, I cannot say enough positive things about Peony Cruise. When visiting Ha Long, you have your choice of 500 different cruise ships/companies - it can be overwhelming. Make this easy on yourself, book with Peony Cruise, and trust that the personalized service you will receive with them will be a highlight of your Vietnam vacation. From top to bottom, this was an amazing experience and I would recommend this to any/all travelers, including couples, families, friends, solo backpackers and any other foreign individuals looking to take their Ha Long Bay experience to the next level.

Peony Cruises was an amazing experience and we loved our time with them overall, but fair warning: Ha Long/Lan Ha is Vietnam’s most apparent example of mass tourism, with 500 massive cruise ships operating in these waters daily. As a result of this, the experience is very much “packaged” as the itinerary is nearly identical no matter which company you choose, with some very minor variations. The effect on the environment of all these ships operating in the same vicinity simultaneously is also apparent and highly depressing at the same time, as it seems that environmental conservation/regulation in the area is not a priority in any capacity. We were disheartened to see trash covering the shoreline of every island we passed and prominently floating in the water, which was so polluted with diesel fuel and sewage dumped from boats that there are many times of year they actually don’t even permit you to swim, and even in season when it is permitted the water feels oily and your skin will feel sticky afterwards. I would not recommend swimming. Environmentalism is generally not a priority in Vietnam, so unfortunately visitors shouldn’t expect this to change anytime soon.

This cruise was amazing. The staff were great, especially Chris. Food was fantastic and the day trips were also really good.
