Cape Hatteras Motel

Had a reservation for 1 night for a two bedroom two bath with living room and kitchen. When my son got there first with his family room was 77 degrees and no working air conditioner. Maintenance call made but no one showed up for quite awhile and when they did said well a shot of freeon might help. My son said not willing to wait several hours to see if it “ might help” so requested new room. Management first offered one regular room, then said if he wanted to go somewhere else they would pay for it. Go where? It’s now 8:00 on a Thursday night at the beach in the summer! Then was offered 2 rooms side by side which he accepted. We didn’t arrive until 11:00p.m. and when we went into our room it was awful. Will attach photos. Dirty, smelled, broken blinds in bathroom windows which faced out onto main road. Truly the worst room I have ever seen. Every surface grimy. Stains on both bedspreads. Hole in bathroom wall and hair on sink counter. Would never recommend this place to anyone! I know this motel is close to going into the ocean from beach eroding but if they are going to remain open they need to keep livable rooms. Paid $197.00 to sit on edge of bed most of the night! When I tried to go to office in the morning around 8:30 to complain was told by a maintenance worker no one was there and we had to leave to catch a ferry.

Family of 4 with two young kids arrived at 6 air condition in room was not working. At 9:30 air condition still had not been repaired, Had to ask for another room. Rooms were very outdated, broken and missing blinds, broken tiles, leaking shower. Rooms are only a few feet from the ocean which is pretty cool, but keeping sand out of the room is gonna be impossible.

Location was pretty amazing! The water comes under the motel! Obviously that could also be concerning and unfortunately I don’t see the motel being there in a couple of years. Erosion will take it.

It’s very weather beaten and needs repair. Our floor was actually sinking in on one side of the bed.

What a disappointment. For the price per night/oceanfront, we expected a room that looked as good as the one on the website. In line with other recent negative reviews, our room also had a strong cleaning product odor. The room was seemingly frozen in time from the 1960's - furniture & paneled walls. In addition to the odor, the sink faucet did not shut off, the internet was frustrating to use, blinds had broken slats, a broom was left behind the door & there were not any travel brochures for the traveler. Not that I needed that but every place I have ever stayed at, included this in the room. However, all of that being said, our bed was comfortable with good sheets, the water pressure was good & all of the lights in the room worked. Unfortunately, during our stay, we experienced the King Tide. Through no fault of the owner of the hotel, this weather situation was unexpected & yes, the tide washed under the oceanside motel. I guess that scenario being said, this motel may disappear with another heavy storm.

Right on the beach. Being able to sit on the porch or go out on the beach and it not be crowded is amazing. This is a great location and a slice of heaven.

The location of the property is by far the best thing about this motel! It is so convenient to walk out your door and take a few steps down right to the shore of the ocean! The views were unlike any I’ve ever seen. Absolutely breathtaking! Before reserving at this property I did my research and read every review so I knew what to expect. The staff, well Jamie since she’s the only one I met, was fantastic! She definitely needs to have more staff to assist with little tasks. She made our stay so relaxed and we felt very welcome.

The room we stayed in was a double queen bed oceanfront with a small fridge and microwave. We had downsized from our original room; a 2 bedroom suite (queen bed and queen and full in 2nd room), with full kitchen, 2 bathrooms. Two people who were coming with us had to cancel. We thought we’d save a pretty good amount of money but we actually only saved $100. That was disappointing and after getting the room we had regretted downsizing. BUT in the end our stay was good and although the room could have used several updates to the interior and also the WiFi situation, we knew what to expect because I had read the reviews. My entire reason for staying there was the location and that was absolutely 5 stars in my opinion. Along with Jamie at the front desk it was very comfortable. I would stay again!
