"Absolute PEACE ON EARTH!"

10.0

We just got back from Villaggio Idra, after staying there for two weeks -- we first went there in 2008. We absolutely love Idra, it's the MOST PEACEFUL place ever!! It's a must see! The Villaggio is really serene, clean and private which was a priority for us. It has a very beautiful swimming pool and bar, a manicured garden with some rides for the kids, it has some nice villette (with an amazing view on the pool and on the see) and other different kinds of apartments. The villette are built in a way that, even if you are eating on the porch, you still have an awesome view and total privacy. This year we stayed a week in a villetta and the second one in an apartment (type P), they all had a view on the see, but we personally preferred the villetta (type A). The owners are really kind and nice people. Thanks again for everything! The only thing that I would personally change are the sun loungers near the pool (which are fine the way they are now) into the ones that have a very thick and comfy mattress...that would be just the icing on the cake for me. The beautiful beach (Spiaggia Molinella) is only 10 minutes away on foot and 2 minutes away by car (there are plenty of parking spaces there). For being a guest at Villaggio Idra, you will be given a spot with two sun loungers and a sun umbrella for your use only for all of your stay period. Also, there you can find a really nice fish restaurant called Mezzaluna, where in the evening they prepare delicious pizza as well. Small advice...go for a late evening walk on Spiaggia Scialmarino beach (you can park your car near Ristorante Umbramare, google it). We loved doing it because there were lots of bars, restaurants, gelaterias on the beach and lots of people would go out for a walk under the lights of the different villaggi and you would also hear the music in the background. Vieste is a very typical city of Puglia and it's just 2 kilometers away from Idra. You can find daily markets (Mon-Sat) with local fruits, vegetables and find fresh fish (all very cheap). The supermarkets around the different Villaggi are more expensive, because of the tourists. While beeing in the Gargano, go visit the Tremiti Islands and the famous caves. We noticed that this year 85% of tourist were Germans (in 2008 it was about 25%) and the rest part were Italians and people from other countries. We can't wait to go back next year and stay there longer! Warm hug to the owner, V. Dyn. family from Veneto
