The Staging Post

Breakfast and dinner great. Location excellent. Options with outback adventures (part of the staging post good - Cobb and co ride, Thompson river cruise and Nogo station experience). Rooms at back very quiet, comfortable and well appointed.

We stayed at the stables for a couple of nights which is across the road. It was interesting and styled in a very rustic manner. I think it was OK for two might be a squeeze for a family of three. The bed was comfortable, the room was very quiet so generally quite good just probably a little small for three. We were only two so we were good.

Great atmosphere, brilliant location. Beautiful rooms.

Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean room with good facilities. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfasts in the cafe. The owner, Richard Kinnon, picked us up from the railway station ( which we didn't expect), kept the cafe open so we could have a meal and really went the extra mile for us. The location right in the center of town was perfect.

You could not fault anything, down to accommodation, restaurant and staff. Everything was exceptional.

What a REVELATION.~ I was smitten by Longreach immediately upon arrival following the circa 27 hour train journey from Brisbane (for my alas all too brief/but overnight stay) ~ email advanced communication had been prompt and informative ~ transport awaited at the Train Station to convey me to the 'Welcoming' Check-in, my Accommodation at 'The Stables' across the road 'blew me away' with it's Heritage Design/Detail and alluring Comfort ~ the general ambiance and visual appearance of 'Main Street' Longreach unhurried/welcoming/seductive ~ following a restful night long slumber the 'Country Buffet Breakfast' a feast 'Extraordinaire' awaited in the Welcome Home Restaurant, surrounded by many a 'Heritage' appealing visual distraction, which served to prolong the savouring/eating while of the Breakfast fare ~ opportunity to meet/converse with both Richard Kinnon/the Longreach born 'Town Crier' enhanced the Delight of my fleeting while in this most pleasing 'Outback' location ~ Far Far too soon I had to depart to catch the return train back to the Coast ~ next year during 'Festival of Outback Opera (11-17 May) 2027' I intend a return from my Havelock North, New Zealand, home for an extended duration...
