Moonlight Luxury Camp

Sayed, the owner of the camp was being very helpful in giving all informations needed. If you are coming by car, you can park your car at Kasbah Le Berger and he will help to bring your luggage to the camp. Straight right after we arrived at 5pm after 7hrs drive from Fes, we were being brought to the camel ride activities. We had a good food for dinner and since we left early in the morning, he accommodate on giving us to-go breakfast which were really great. Night in desert was amazing with starry skies. Love this experience. I would love to repeat staying here for 2 nights. I love the people, I love the food, I love the ambience.

My adult son and I spent two nights at Moonlight Desert Camp and the only thing I would change would be to add a third night. The entire experience was magical. The tent was spacious, luxurious, and comfortable. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The campfire at night was just wonderful. There was a miscommunication about how we wanted to enter camp (on camels, not by truck), but when we figured out the error and asked for the camel ride into camp, the person was incredibly accommodating and made it happen. That was the only issue with our stay and it was resolved quickly, efficiently, and without fuss. I cannot sufficiently recommend Moonlight Desert Camp. It was perfect.

Obviously the location at the edge of the dunes was superb. Said and the rest of the staff would do everything to help. When we arrived at Mergouza and it was clear our car wasn't going to make it through the desert, we phoned and Said was there in his 4X4 in ten minutes to take us the rest of the way. As a musician I loved the live music, food was well presented and the tent accommodation was stylish and comfortable. The camel ride back to the village over the dunes will live longer in the memory than the serious groin pain!

Beyond the control of the Moonlight Desert camp, but the peace and quiet of the desert was compromised by 4X4s and ATVs constantly zooming over the dunes themselves.

We traveled through Morocco for 22 days. A camel ride into the Sahara Desert and an overnight stay in the desert were on the top of our list and highly anticipated. We wanted to stay in small and highly rated camp at the eastside of the Erg Chebbi desert. After tediously checking all the camps in the area, Moonlight Desert Camp checked the boxes. It also seems to be the only camp in the whole Erg Chebbi desert where the tents have awnings. A very nice touch, with lights hanging from the awnings. The camp is a family owned and managed. Camp manager Said reached out to us over WhatsApp with final instructions. We agreed to meet with Said at a kasbah, where we parked our rental car. From there, Said took us in his pickup truck to a point where two camels were waiting for us. The camel ride to the camp was an hour and twenty minutes. The camel trip, at sunset, through the sand dunes was absolutely stunning! The name of the camp is Moonlight Desert Camp. Very fitting, as the moon was right above our camp when we arrived at the campsite. The camp was really magnificent. It consists of 6 tents for guests, a restaurant tent and a couple of tents for kitchen and utilities. The camp’s water comes from a well, and the electricity comes from solar panels. All the lights are energy efficient LED lights. The tents have full-sized beds, a toilet and a shower (with solar heated hot water). Said is an awesome host. He welcomed every guest personally by name and checked at night as well as in the morning if everything was good. Which it was! As usual, we were welcomed with Moroccan mint tea. Next was a 5-course dinner: pumpkin soup, rice with I-don’t-know-what-kind-of-sauce and roasted cauliflower, eggplant with cheese tajine, lemon chicken tajine, and flan as desert. Everything tasted excellent! After dinner, the staff showed off their musical talents at a camp fire. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and very good!

Would 100% recommend! Very beautiful camp which is just renovated. Room is big, clean and pretty! Shower is warm. There is even wifi that works pretty okay. Dinner and breakfast are good. Staff is very friendly. Campfire and music at night. Possibility to go to camp for free by jeep. Otherwise you can go by camel or ATV (extra costs!)

Bed is pretty hard so not really comfortabel. Furthermore: don’t expect to be in the middle of the desert without any other camps (there are camps very close by, but you can’t avoid this, and none of the camps are really in the desert itself, more like behind it)

The best camp that you can find♥️ Beautiful, clean, amazind location, wonderful staff and owner! They organised camels and ATV tours( and others) The « rooms » are really clean, really beautiful and confortable! Perfect to see the sunrise, the sunser and the stars on night! I stayed for another night and we had a firecamp and music! The first noght I was alone and they take reslly care of me! Best food that I eat in Morroco! The best travel experience of my life!

Lovely staff, owner is a great guy, its a small camp so it feels intimate which is really great. If you stop in Merzouga absolutely go to this camp.
