The outside hot spring (onsen) which can be booked privately is the main reason we booked the hotel, and unfortunately the only reason we remained at the property longer than 12 hours.

Good luck finding the property through google maps, the pin is incorrect so we had to go downhill a snowy hill with our small trolleys and bags to find it. The space in this property is ABSOLUTELY FREEZING considering we went in December. Very disappointing how there isn't proper heating considering the price. They are NOT PREPARED!! The electrical heater in our room would beep and show "Error" if we left the heating on during our sleep, or heat the room past 22 degrees celsius. We were miserable! The sound would wake us up. In the mornings, the pipe sounds and banging in other rooms would wake us up, literally we couldn't get any sleep and we were constantly freezing!!! We didn't have access to the showers past 9 am... because apparently they have to clean the onsen area for 6 hours every day... The bedroom area is separate from the bathroom, no shower in the room beware, only a sink and toilet! Forget taking a shower late morning if you need to. And, of course, NO HEATING in the bathroom area. Also the satin/silk bedding has a stain and clearly wasn't clean from the last client, only the sheet covering it was cleaned and fresh. I would not recommend this stay :(

It’s a nice place, very traditional feeling but also they make it easy for foreigners. The staff is absolutely awesome and the food is ridiculously good. Book the optional dinner in advance if you can.

Some of the other guests were terribly loud and annoying, especially during breakfast.
