We stayed in a suite in The Arches which was fabulous. Would have preferred to be a little closer but the space made up for it.

Wells is a lovely place and the Globe is a smart place to stay with excellent food and drink and helpful staff. I've stayed here before, and it's great. And the room I stayed in was clean and well-appointed. However ....

I've taken a while to review this place as I emailed them separately, yet I'm still awaiting a response two months later. I was under the impression that I was booking a room at the Globe (as advertised). However, I was given a room in a separate property on the outskirts of the town and was surprised when I was informed this only after booking in at the Globe itself. I booked the Globe deliberately as friends intended to stay there (and were actually given a room in the Globe itself after I had booked - and at a cheaper rate!) Breakfast was delicious but after a stiff 10-15 walk in the wet and cold (and back), it didn't really put me in a great mood. I've since checked the booking (and subsequent emails and other reviews) and I don't think it is clear when booking that this room is in a separate property - and it isn't just around the corner. I stay in Wells as I want to walk around, not drive the car to meet up with friends, or get to my room. This caused me (and my friends) some inconvenience - and at the price paid I paid, it could be considered misleading at best. The room was great - but the point is that it wasn't what I had booked, or where I expected it to be. Check where you are staying is my advice.

Location

Stayed here recently and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience, especially for the price paid. The room had several cleanliness issues — there was visible mould on both the bedroom and bathroom windows, as well as in the shower/bath tile areas. The radiator and light shade were also very dusty, which made the room feel poorly maintained overall. Lighting in the room was inadequate. Because the terrace outside the window was frequently occupied by other guests, we couldn’t comfortably open the curtains for natural light, so better internal lighting is definitely needed. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, with a very thin, poor-quality mattress, and it creaked every time either of us moved, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. While the wooden flooring was a nice touch, it would have been good to see small details like disposable slippers provided at this price point. Overall, the stay didn’t meet expectations in terms of cleanliness or comfort, and I wouldn’t consider it good value for money.

Location was perfect, atmosphere relaxed and dog friendly. Huge breakfast, really good level of choice.

Bath was lovely to have but the plug kept losing water through it so had to keep topping it up!

Beautiful, clean rooms. All the facilities you need and more.

Nothing. It was lovely! Only feedback I have (which isn’t a negative - just feedback!), is that the menu’s in the rooms are outdated. I picked something for my evening meal that wasn’t on the menu when I went to eat. But again, just a little thing to update, certainly not a negative!

Room was very clean. Breakfast was good. Evening meal food was a bit tasteless and poor

Felt cramped and overpriced. Really didn’t like being located down the road. There was no atmosphere and didn’t feel like a treat in a nice hotel. Room felt really small, we didn’t want to spend any time in there. No furniture to put stuff on or a chair.
