Villa Ayung

The villa is very comfortable and like home from home. Having the dogs and cats around was great as we missed our pets. The breakfast was delicious and it was really nice being able to cook a meal in our own villa one of the evenings. The pool was lovely and felt like own private pool and we loved the outdoor bathroom. The information provided by the host was very detailed and although not there to meet us we were well looked after by the staff. We did the day trip to Nusa Penida organised by Daniel and would definitely recommend the boat trip and snorkelling. The afternoon driving around the island less so as the roads are in a poor condition and too many tourists at all the stops.

Reviews had mentioned the unmade road leading to the property but it wasn’t a problem as taxis are more than happy to collect /drop from the villa. It would be really helpful to have bedside lights so that you can read at night. The Hari Krishna temple nearby although beautiful is noisy at 5am but was not every morning.

A stay at Villa Ayung is something quite special. The villa is located right next to the river, in a lovely quiet location, a short taxi/scooter ride away from Sanur beach perfect for a peaceful, relaxing stay but close enough to restaurants and bars for evenings out. There are also a few restaurants within walking distance. The villa is beautifully designed - three guest villas located around the shared kitchen and dining room area. The villas are assiduously cleaned and very comfortable, and the three room villa is so spacious. Every morning begins with a breakfast, cooked fresh by the staff served with fresh fruit and home-made yoghurt, after that there's space around the large pool to relax, or place in the common area to read or to work. Julie and Peter are wonderful, welcoming hosts and the staff do everything they can to keep the guests comfortable and well fed. Staying with Julie and Peter, their three dogs, and two cats was more like a trip to visit friends than a villa rental. I've stayed in a few places in Bali but this was by far the best. I'm looking forward to another visit some time soon.

Wifi signal in the rooms is a bit patchy but for those looking to work during your stay, the wifi in the common area is good, and there's plenty of space there to work, charge laptop etc. so this was not an issue.

The pool was 29 meter. The scenery was stunning, hidden gem in a busy Sanur. Breakfast set up was next level. Hosts were very lovely and welcoming.

Internet was bad due bad weather. Not ideal for work/streaming.

Location not close to town which might suit some people. You need to get transport

All the staff was extremely friending and helpful. They provided us with suggestions of activities, restaurants, drivers... and also what to avoid. They made sure we had a great stay. The breakfast was cooked on the spot and was delicious We stayed at the deluxe suite and it is very nice, the bed is very comfortable and the rooms are very well sized. The pool is perfect for a swim or just a splash. The whole premises are very clean. We had a great time at Vila Ayung and will get back the next time we go to Sanur

The access to the villa is a bit hard to find, but nothing that stops you from getting in and out

Hosts and accomodation were both lovely. Breakfast was very good and the setting very pleasant and relaxing. The hosts were really kind when my wife wasn’t feeling well.

Whilst we were aware the the property was a bit out of town - the write up didn’t make us aware of just how remote it was, There was nothing (only a very average restaurant) anywhere in the vicinity. There wasn’t even a coffee shop to walk too - you had to get a taxi every time you ventured out. The property is also down a very rough track with aggressive dogs. Wasn’t impressed with the dogs in the kitchen and cats on the worktops - also begging food while you are eating. We had booked for seven nights but only stayed three.
