Azure Family Paying Guest House

Azure Family Paying Guest House turned out to be the most memorable accommodation for me. I visited Benares on the second day of my travel itinerary. Before arriving, I had encountered numerous issues in New Delhi, such as being scammed by taxi drivers and having my hotel reservation on booking.com canceled without prior notice, which left me feeling frustrated. Nevertheless, when I reached the guest house, the owner, Sona, greeted me with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. It was the most delightful coffee I had ever tasted, instantly putting me at ease. Furthermore, during my stay, she assisted me in booking a train ticket and provided a brief overview of the surrounding area. Her warm hospitality allowed me to thoroughly enjoy my three-day stay in Benares. The location of the guest house was also ideal. Since it was situated slightly away from the bustling main street, I was spared the constant noise of car horns and had no trouble sleeping peacefully at night. Additionally, the Ganges River was only a 10-minute walk from the guest house, which enabled me to experience the beautiful sunrise every morning after waking up at 6 a.m. On top of that, the facilities were excellent. I had access to a hot shower, reliable Wi-Fi, and a spacious and comfortable bedroom.

Sona is really a wonderful host! She was incredibly warm and friendly and answered any questions we had. The room was the cleanest we had in India so far and the location is right near the Assi Ghat. Her cooking is also amazing and she even gives cooking classes! We can highly recommend staying with her :)

The property was very clean and well maintained. Hosts were gracious and kind. The food and the tea were really delicious. The hosts also arranged pickup and drop to the airport.

Rooms are a bit small in size. Also bear in mind that one needs to climb three fights of stairs to get to the room. Not a big issue for us but worth mentioning.

Staying at Sona's guest house was a lovely experience. She is a great host - she helped us get an Indian SIM card, organised a sunrise boat tour for us, got a load of laundry ready for us in 24 hours and gave us the most amazing and entertaining cooking class. She and her family took very good care of us and made sure we were safe and happy at all times. The room was simple and clean and the location is very convenient, just a short walk away from Assi Ghat and close to many restaurants and amenities. If you're looking for simple, no-frills accommodation in Varanasi with thoughtful hosts and lots of extra services available, this is the right place for you.

We had a great time at Sona’s guesthouse! The room was very comfortable. There was no AC, but the ceiling fan was perfect - we slept great. The hot shower was also nice. Sona is very helpful and organized with activities around the city. She also arranged airport transportation for us, which was very helpful. We had a cooking class with her, which was great! She’s an excellent cook and her English is very good. The location was also good. Keep in mind it’s a bit of a far walk to the main area where most of the food restaurants seem to be, but it’s very convenient for Assi Ghat, which is nice for the morning Aarti ceremony and for the sunrise boat tour. Overall a great stay!
