The New Inn Clovelly

The Staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was basic but clean and comfy with a large bathroom next door. The evening meal at the hotel was good pub food and reasonably priced. The pillows were exceptional.

There was no breakfast. The hotel was a little gem in a beautiful location but it was dreadfully understaffed and very poorly run. Despite that we were enjoying our overnight stay and had a good meal in the bar in the evening. Our disappointment came at 8.50 the following morning when we came down for the breakfast that we had been advised was served from 8 to 9.30 to be told that breakfast had finished.

The fact that there was no breakfast. We were told that they were short staffed and what staff they had had gone home before 9 o'clock. We were also told that they had emailed us about this but they had not seen fit to tell us in the bar the night before. As I don't use a mobile phone there was no way that I could or would have known about this unless they had told me face to face. In all honesty I could not recommend this hotel until I was assured that it was being run by somebody who could at least be relied upon to provide the minimum services an hotel could reasonably be expected to supply of bed and breakfast. What a shame.

Leider war das Zimmer voller Spinnweben mit Spinnen. Die Wandfarbe blättert überall ab. Es riecht unangehm im Gang. Preis- Leistungsverhältnis passt hier nicht!

Der window seat!!! Die Aussicht war zwar nicht besonders aber es war ein gemütlicher Platz und das Zimmer insgesamt sehr geräumig. Alles etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber in Ordnung und urig. Super leckere Seafood Platter und große Portionen zu fairen Preisen. Tolles Frühstück mit viel Auswahl und sogar selbstgemachten sehr leckeren (!!!) Scones. Wir haben ein Lunchpaket bestellt, und das war unglaublich gut und mehr als genug! Super freundliches und hilfreiches Personal.

Der Preis für das Zweibettzimmer mit eigenem Bad war stattlich.

The staff here were amazing. Went above and beyond. Told us lots of history and stories about hotel and area! The breakfast was superb, so much choice and lots of freshly baked goodies. The restaurant food in the evening was excellent and good value for money. . The Italian lady behind the bar was hilarious and welcoming. Breakfast staff lovely. Of course location in beautiful Clovelly was perfect.

The restaurant area could do with a bit of updating, a lick of paint, just a refresh would make such a difference, respecting the old building of course.

Extremely friendly staff who were clearly lovers of dogs also. Rooms were suitable dog friendly rooms Breakfast was brilliant - The waiter even brought our dog a sausage every morning for breakfast
