The location was lovely and free entry to Ripley Castle was an added bonus. A few yards away is the delicious award winning Ripley ice cream. They keep a really nice cider on draught and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The food comes out quickly and is nice and hot, both at breakfast and dinner. The bed was very comfortable.

Both the room and the bathroom were dated and in need of refurbishment. The fan didn't work in the bathroom and the shower cubicle was narrow and difficult to get in and out of. The food was just average-the homemade bread was dry and uninspiring and the salad leaves were covered in far too much dressing. The piccalilli and chutney served with the Ploughman's were both commercial products and to sweet.

"A lovely end to our holiday."

8.0

The location was superb. On a bus route but so peaceful. Parking the car was so easy The offer of walking round the castle grounds was delightful. The bedroom was fine, the bathroom even better. We were across the road in apparently better rooms. Nothing we could fault about the accommodation.

The Sunday roast dinner was disappointing. My husband declared it very tough beef and the overall image was of a crowded plate. I chose a ploughman's platter the following evening and it was much better. I would eat elsewhere but happily stay in the house.

"Lovely country get away"

9.0

Lovely location, great staff, good breakfast and room was clean with a comfortable bed and pillow.

Breakfast starts at 8 which if you’re traveling or want out early is a bit restrictive
