GBMy stay
Your website said food but was explained to me so all was ok .
GBThis was a one night visit to see my son and his partner who live in central York. I had hoped to get a hotel in central York but the prices were ridiculous and rooms were scarce, so I did a wider search and found a room at the Saddle inn, which I feel was at a bargain price. On arrival I was able to park my car in their car park without issue and on checking in the staff were very helpful and polite. The pub is a basic old drinkers pub with a sports theme, but clean and inviting. The beer was nice too. The room was warm and clean, with fresh bedding and comfy bed, decent shower room and toilet ensuite. To be fair, it was possibly the best nights sleep I have had in a long time. Tea and coffee making facilities were welcomed the next morning. The local area in Fulford is beautiful with a range or architectural styles. I walked into York on the back roads from Fulford with my son, through the Rowntrees Park, which is just a stones throw away and highly recommended. After a day in York I took an Uber back to the Saddle Inn for just £7.
The only thing I can criticise is the lack of breakfast facilities. I was told they have no chef so there wasn't a breakfast option available. This could perhaps be easily rectified by supplying bottled juices, individually wrapped pastries, small packet cereals and fruit in a location like the landing my room was on. The price of this could be added onto the price of the room and wouldn't cost a fortune.
GBGreat location, good value for money, lovely comfortable rooms. On bus route, with regular buses so very easy to get into city centre.
Not a lot of parking and spaces were very tight
GBThe property was warm and inviting. If you are coming from America or anywhere around the world this is what a traditional British pub should look like. These places are slowly dying out and it’s a very welcoming place with a good traditional pint. These places Tim Taylor’s landlord was good and the lager was good also.
Nothing to dislike it was all perfect. And staff kind and friendly bar man especially and showed me to my room. I accidentally even broken an item in my room regrettably and offered to pay for it but they refused and said to leave it which I thought was very kind of them.

GBspacious room, great location, the canadian barman was brilliant
GBConsidering it's one of the cheapest stays in York, I was pleased with this hotel. The lady who checked us in and showed us to our room was super sweet and friendly. The room itself is cute, in an old fashioned pub kind of way, and clean. The bed was very comfy, and the bed linen had a lovely fresh fabric softener smell. An extra blanket was provided. Basic shower gel was provided. We were able to turn the radiator up - though there was still a slight chill outside our duvet in the morning, we were warm enough during the night. We were given a key to the outer back door, as well as our room key, so that we could return as late as we pleased. We had no problems with noise during the night, and it's only a 10 minute drive from both central York and York maze.
The ensuite shower has low pressure. Took me a while to figure out if you want consistent temperature (not frequent change between freezing and burning) you have to use the 'eco' setting, not the high setting (though high will reach higher temperatures for a couple of minutes). But for a short stay (one night), it was fine. It wasn't a problem for me, but I feel light sleepers would probably be woken in the morning by the traffic as the hotel is right on a busy road. The ensuite does have some black mould. However, I could tell the facilities had at least been wiped down with antibac, and someone had tried to clean the shower glass (though it was smeared). The bedroom could do with some heavier/ blackout curtains (though this is a problem in most hotel rooms). A lamp could also be nice, as there is only a main light.
