"Comfortable and welcoming..."

8.0

The warm welcome after we arrived later than expected. A table had been laid for us in the dining area despite the fact that we were very near the time for closing the kitchen. We had soup and bread which was very welcome and well cooked.

The room was advertised "Including Breakfast" and we made the wrong assumption that this meant a cooked breakfast. In the event, some fruit plus cereals and toast was what was on offer. We arrived after dark and the parking was a challenge to say the least! However, the staff were very helpful in showing us a space in which we were able to park.

"I would definitely stay again. The village is so quaint and picturesque"

8.0

It had a cottage-style and I liked it. Good mattress. Breakfast was continental. I needed healthy that day.

Nothing to do with the stay, but it is hard to locate bus stops in Swalcliffe. They don't have them. You just have to stand outside the church or the other side of the road

"Wonderful countryside pub where the friendly owners are the real magic"

10.0

The owners (Stamathis and Faith) made us feel incredibly welcome and well taken care of. The dinner and breakfast was great, and having just a few pints in their cozy pub with them keeping us company was a lovely experience. The bed was spacious and comfortable – not too soft, not too stiff – great for both me and my partner despite usually having very different opinions on beds. The room came with a kettle for tea and coffee, and Stamathis even made sure to stock up on milk in the minifridge for us to put in our coffee. Overall, what really stood out was the attention and hospitality we could feel radiating from the owners. You will definitely get the most out of this place if you stay for at least two nights or more!

In case you stay in the Swallows Nest room and like to sleep late in the morning, the pipes can be a bit noisy when the neighbouring room turns on the tap. We were not bothered by this, but it might be an issue for someone else.
