Very good but unorganised

Our second stay at this lovely pub. The fact that we returned tells the story. A classic country pub with a quirky and very appealing outside colour that fits its surroundings well. It's very easy to spot from a distance next to a crossroads. Located well for almost any destination and easy access to the new Broadlands road system. Very tasteful interior with traditional wood panelling and structure with roof beams. Our room this time was the larger double which gave us plenty of space and had everything we needed. Decent sized TV, fan (very nice due to sunny weather), hospitality tray, good (and spotless) bathroom / toilet / shower all en-suite and plenty of storage space for clothes etc. in drawers and wardrobe.. Three very comfy chairs and a table with a nice sized dresser and power points. Very tasteful. We had breakfasts each morning - all very nicely cooked and served by cheerful friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant for evening meals (the pub has quite a large dining room and a separate conservatory too). It's locally known for its good food and in our opinion it's a reputation that we feel is well deserved. Every meal was delightful (great chefs) and people will travel distances for it. It also opens in a morning for breakfasts for public dropping by who are not even staying there as guests. A large car park is available on the premises. As we understand it, the same owners have operated the pub as a private entity for many years since the 1970's. Much nicer than the larger "chain" type hotels as we see it. They and all of the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble at all for them. A really nice team. Oh, and a very nice bar with a good selection of drinks including beers from the Southwold-based brewery "Adnams" - (a personal favourite). We're pretty sure we'll be heading back yet again next year. A very well deserved 10 score from us (for the 2nd time).

There was absolutely nothing negative at all for us comment on. We liked everything about this little gem of a place. Hence the 10 scored.

The warmest of welcome, from start to finish a fantastic service. Excellent breakfast and main menu, plentiful and quality from the chef and team. Friendly bar with well-kept selection of beers. How do they do it for the price. Many thanks from a happy customer.

Loved the history, the food and location. Staff were really friendly and obliging, but best of all was our room was so clean.

Lovely location. Staff were very nice and really helpful. Rooms were clean and the bed really comfortable. Key access after hours which was really helpful. Breakfast was superb, and the evening pub meals were excellent.

Rooms were a bit on the small side, but it didn't bother myself and they were a little tired, like rusty bottoms on the radiator, toilet seat, just minor stuff really.

Staff so friendly, evening meals, excellent quality and value, breakfast, best we've had, beer, best Adnams ghost ship I've tasted. We will definitely be back.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, the location was excellent with lovely views of the countryside and farmland. Great restaurant with on site parking.

Everything, comfortable rooms, ideal location for where we wanted to be, very friendly staff. Highly recommend staying here. Would really like to stay here again in the near future as this is the second time we've been here.
