Ella River Face Inn

We had an absolutely amazing stay the family that own the place are the most friendly, helpful people you can imagine. The view from our balcony was unmatched it was especially amazing getting our breakfast on it which was also absolutely delicious and so affordable. The family even let us stay an extra few hours and helped us catch the bus to our next destination. Best place we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka. We loved it so much we ended up extending our stay. We met three generations of the family and every single one was absolutely lovely - their dogs and cats were also adorable too.

This was a brilliant place to stay for our trip to Ella. A true home stay experience in Sri Lanka. The room was spacious and comfortable and the balcony was a perfect addition, we could relax and look over the valley with great views. We had breakfast there one morning, made by the owners, which was so delicious in a beautiful setting. In the room, bed was comfortable with a mosquito net - important for this area. There was hot water for shower/ sink if needed. The best part was our hosts who were wonderful. We were introduced to all of the three-generational family! The owners son is a tuktuk driver and tour guide and arranged two days of tour at very good price. He hiked Ella rock with us for sunrise, brought us to a tea plantation we had booked and waited for us, then brought us to Little Adam’s Peak and Nine Arch Bridge. The next day we visited Diayluma falls and Buduruwagala site for a long day out. This was so easy to arrange when we arrived, and we saw plenty we wouldn’t have seen without this guide. I would recommend doing a tour with Kumara if you stay here!

Note that the property is located a 5 min drive along the main road out of Ella, so it’s better to take a tuktuk into town (this is nice to be away from the busy town centre)! Also, the room is located directly on the main road, so it can be a little loud with the traffic going by, if you are a light sleeper. Finally the bathroom is not fully sealed from outside - for example, we had a gecko visit us (which we thought was cool) but in case you don’t like that.

Gli host sono molto cordiali e gentili ma la struttura si trova sul ciglio della strada il che fa sì che che sia un po’ rumoroso per via del frequente passaggio di bus e Tuk Tuk

The owners were lovely people . The morning view of the lush greenery was beautiful .

Wi-Fi worked for one day and was slow . The cars and busses on the road can be heard throughout the night. It is quite a distance from Ella town unless you fancy a 30 min walk or to pay tuktuk prices .
