Very friendly Pub, with a modern decor. Food in the bar was varied and good quality. The rooms are beautiful, and after a five stop road trip the bed was one of the best we had. Great countryside to walk in

I am a regular traveller and rarely leave negative reviews or raise complaints unless absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, on this occasion, there were several issues that significantly impacted our stay. Upon arrival at approximately 6:30pm, the room was extremely cold. Although all radiators were turned on, the room did not warm up, even after we waited downstairs for over an hour to allow the heating time to take effect. The bathroom did not warm up at all. As a result, we had very little sleep due to being uncomfortably cold throughout the night. Given the time of year and outside temperatures, we would have expected the heating to have been switched on prior to our arrival. When booking the Superior Suite, the room description clearly stated that it included a sofa bed. We chose this room specifically as we were travelling with our six-year-old child. When we raised this at reception, we were informed that no sofa bed was available. While staff provided an additional blanket and pillow, the room did not match the description at the time of booking. I have since noticed that the description on Booking.com has been amended, which suggests this discrepancy has since been acknowledged. We also experienced persistent Wi-Fi issues, with the connection continually dropping in and out. This made it impossible to watch a film and caused repeated buffering on our child’s iPad due to poor connectivity. Breakfast the following morning was also disappointing. The food was dry and bland and did not meet the standard we would expect, particularly after such an uncomfortable and sleepless night. Finally, a burst pipe occurred that morning, resulting in our bathroom beginning to flood. While reception staff were accommodating and offered us another room to get ready, the situation had already caused significant disruption. Due to the flooding, we were unable to get changed in our room after breakfast, and our son had to leave the hotel in his pyjamas.
