Come back every year. Very oldy worldy but that's one of the reasons we love it. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful...food very good

Steep stairs and I've a mobility problem. Maybe a grab rail at the top where the handrail stops

Lovely bathroom. Clean. Nice room.

The position and smell of the extractor fan and the staff gathering frequently to smoke just outside and below our window. The handle has been removed from this window to prevent opening. Plastic signs have been placed over glass in an attempt to afford privacy. It doesn't work. It looks ugly, and we felt exposed unless the curtains were closed. The real ale was at the end of the barrel and sour tasting. The whitebait was so overcooked they were crispy fish shells, and the ham was so cheap and plastic tasting I complained. The waitress did take it off our bill . She said she knew it wasn't good, but she didn't do the ordering. If the staff know something isn't good, they should not serve it. The bar man should have seen the beer was cloudy .

"Great country pub stay"

9.0

Really enjoyed our stay at this inn. Comfortable very clean room. Our bathroom ( en-suite) was very compact. No problem for us, we are walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats so we don’t need a large bathroom and I did choose the most budget room they had. I was very happy with it and had a great nights sleep. Really enjoyed the food too.

"Very pleasant"

A lovely old pub that's been very well modernised. Dinner and breakfast both good.

The heavy rock band playing in the marquee outside our room was somewhat intrusive.

"Unwelcome “hotel” guests at a pub run by locals for locals."

3.0

Breakfast and location fine. Car parking good. Room 5 very interesting although dark with just one small window, a function of the age of the pub. Bathroom glitzy.

This is a pub with rooms, and is clearly run by local staff for the benefit of local customers. As “hotel” guests we felt the polar opposite of being welcome. Not a pleasant experience at all. Stairs to first floor bedrooms extremely tight and steep, again a function of the age and style of the building. Bathroom expensively fitted out BUT bath with shower over and no grab handle. Why do proprietors believe a bath/shower combination is a good idea when 90+ % of the population just want a walk in shower, not having to climb in and over a high sided bath, twist around , get wet and struggle out again. No sight nor sound of the owner, just staff working their systems.
