George and Dragon Ashbourne

The atmosphere felt welcoming and helpful

I know we booked last minute due to circumstances however the shower door came off when was in shower very dangerous. Was freezing cold in night had to use extra heating provided.the old single window was open which I can understand it down to being a old pub so they had double glazing in front of it but was still cold. The milk was out of date when I told manger it still wasn't fixed.the mattress was very old and spring dug into me there was black bits coming out of taps and smell of grease in room and pub. Over all room was filfty. We also went for food in there restaurant friend had a mix grill and the pork was pink and raw they took it said they do a fresh plate however came back the same still pink and they just reheated the old food so we then refused the food due to meat being pink so didn't want to catch food poisoning. I didn't eat my fish and chips as it was full of grease and due to friends food being bad it put me off. Told manager but there was no oplogise or trying to put it right or any kind of help. Overall experience was terrible needs a update for sure cleanliness was terrible and stuck of grease.!!

Brilliant stay, staff lovely. Room was OK,

To small, no chair to get ready by the mirror to do hair and makeup. Broken towel rail, so there is no place to put towels. The location is good and the staff are friendly however the rooms are dirty and tired .

The location was lovely and was nice and quiet during the day. The member of staff was friendly who checked us in.

The rooms decor was very dated and dirty walls, the curtains didn't fit the windows properly, the door didn't feel very secure even when locked, the room was freezing cold even though there was a heater in there but was broken. The bed was very firm we both woke up very stiff. We had lots of noise, sirens and blue lights in the early hours of the morning right outside.

So the room was clean, if dated, however we had everything we needed, a clean bed, tea & coffee, the shower could have done with being a bit warmer, but apart from that the room was ok. The staff went out of their way to accomodate, very friendly and helpful and the bar manager Sarah was a diamond! We will defitintely stay again at some point in the future. Very good food!

Staff were so helpful and welcoming. Room was very private, and comfortable. And location was amazing. Really good value for money.

The food was exceptional. Good quality, Large portions. The lasagne in the photos was a requested half portion The staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble.

The price was room only (not breakfast) so thought the price a little expensive. The rooms need upgrading. They look shabby but they are clean.

Lovely friendly staff here and totally dog friendly. Ashbourne was an excellent base for a couple of days in the Derbyshire Dales. I really liked the food in the pub too. Thank you for such a warm welcome!

Rooms were badly in need of decoration. Noise of bathroom fan and pump, I think, was disturbing.
