Casa Mayela Guest House

The house was cute, very clean and in a great location for a short stay in San Jose. I speak some Spanish which helped me communicate with the staff!!

Nothing! Suited my needs perfectly. Mayela was an excellent host. She was willing to help me when my pickup was late and gave me some great local restaurant recommendations.

The host was very nice but spoke almost no English. She was able to communicate with a phone translation. I arrived at dark. Luckily my ride spoke Spanish and was able to call her. This accommodation is located within walking distance of the Tracopa bus terminal but unsafe to walk outside at night. The host was so nice, she walked me to a bakery in the morning and bought me a pastry. The room was sparse but comfortable. You can make your own coffee in the morning. There is a nice courtyard in the middle that all the rooms open to.

The property was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We arrived late at night and left fairly early in the morning. We were sorry to leave. Mayela is a lovely woman and we would definitely return.

Brilliant

Really charming and clean. Mostly as described other than the common area has since been painted and no longer matches the pictures in the listing. A great shared kitchen, but for the price a small breakfast would improve the value. Feels very safe because your room is behind three locked doors. The best budget lodging I found for proximity to the Tracopa bus station without getting too close to the (loud) train.

We did not sleep well due to lighting and noise. Light leaks into the room from the atrium and foyer. The city is loud. If someone else is watching tv or talking, you will hear it as if it is in your room. Tips: Look up or request a picture of the outside of the building before you go, in order to help you find it. Bring crisp new bills because she won’t accept bills with marks or tears.

We only stayed for one night but it was everything we needed. Located near the bus terminal, perfect to walk there early the next morning and catch the bus to the pacific coast. Very clean room and there was a lovely lady working who helped us with anything we needed.

The bed was so comfortable and Mayela was amazing. She was so helpful with any requests . We had really amazing Chinese dinner about 10min from the guest house :)

Everything. Super clean, comfortable bed, amazing host who couldn't do enough for you. Chinatown right nearby. Safe and secure Perfect Great wifi
